Follow your doctor's advice, but learn to listen to your body. My doctor told me to stay under 60 carbs per meal, but I've found that my diabetes is severe, and I get high numbers over 25 carbs/day. That's terribly low. Regular testing of your blood sugar is super helpful. If you take Metformin, take it right before or with meals for best effect.
