I am hard of hearing since birth and kidney disease too. I wear a hearing aid and never got the chance to learn sign language and as I'm getting older finding learning harder to grasp. As I now hsvecebd stage kidney failure and now in dialysis since last December. So my concentration is not what is used to be.
But I'm striving to stay strong!! πͺπΎ
I've had my ups and downs.
I hope to establish a close connection with this community in time.

Hi there, hope you are as well as can be. My mum is profoundly deaf and did learn some sign language but no one else she knows uses it so pointless really. She has a cochlear implant. Chatting online and text messaging now mean she has conversations on equal level with everyone else. I have severe hearing loss with high frequency sounds and use a hearing aid. Welcome to the site, a few more are now using it and hopefully more will too.
That's great we can all rally together and encourage one another on this site. ππΎ
My favourite means of communication is texting and writing. When one of my daughters know his she still insists on calling me knowing my hearing situation. If I'm stressed nervous or on pain it affects my hearing so I prefer texting unless necessary to make calls. For household business etc.
Look forward to your posts in future ππΎ
Stay strong πͺπΎ and focused your not alone!! π
