I'm getting desperate and need reassurance.

I'm 42yo male born with microtia. (My right ear is closed over and has never heard) but never been a problem.

Ten weeks ago working away as a chef my left eardrum suddenly ruptured, a bit of pain and a lot of hearing loss. I worked for a few more weeks hoping for a natural recovery. Then it seemed working in such a noisy and hectic, high mental and physical stress and exertion place was hindering my recovery so I arranged some time off sick. I've since been made unemployed as a result. I've spent a few weeks at home in convalescence hoping my hearing improves enough to start attending interviews for work but there's been no improvement as yet. I want a hearing aid but they are too expensive. I live in Spain and do not qualify for health care of any kind in Spain or UK. Does anybody know a direction I can take ?I'm coming to my wits end. Any suggestion are welcome. Thanks Neil

Does your country provide information about free clinics near you? What about charities of the deaf near you? I wouldn't give up until you find what you need. Surely there are places willing to help you and your situation. Firstly, I'd Google free audiology clinics in your area. You never know what you may find. Good luck to you.
