I can't answer but I know Mirapex and Requip made my life a living hell with compulsive behaviors and did not help my movement symptoms much. My neuro is concerned with benadryl and cognitive problems for his older patients (I'm 72)

I take azilect, requip and sinement. Yes I would say I am obsessive, but my compulsions went in the direction of starting a business. Now my husband is retiring and we are going in our RV doing festivals all over the country selling the wearable art I invented. And I am obsessed with creating them. So compulsiveness is not always bad.

My husband was diagnosed with PD in March 2007 and the first medication they put him on was Mirapex which he has been on until just recently when the doctor said he no longer thought he needed it. The doctor never mentioned anything about the Mirapex causing Dementia which my husband now has. He was told after an MRI that he has brain atrophy in the language/speech area which is causing his cognitive issues. He is almost off the Mirapex now and so far I can see a difference in him as far as sleeping better and not getting as mean and angry. I plan to wait a few weeks after he is completely weaned from the meds to see if I notice any other differences. He does have pretty bad tremors in his legs so I'm hoping that may ease up also.

I've been on mirapex for a long time and now I' a little concerned. Would you mind telling me how old your husband is?

My husband is 70 and I started noticing cognitive issues about 2 years ago. They started small - words getting mixed up and slowness in trying to understand what you said. Now, I cannot understand 98% of what he says, I need to remind him to put clean clothes on, brush his teeth, etc. I am fearful I can't meet his needs for things he wants - like what to eat, places he wants to go. I have been to 5 different doctors and none of them have ever told me that Mirapex would lead to dementia so don't know if this caused his dementia or not and I probably will never know. I would definitely talk to your doctor about it though just to ease your mind. Blessings!

I'm glad it made you feel better about taking it. When I first started taking Mirapex I only took half a tablet ,50mg. 3 times a day for about

1 week and then I gradually increased it one tablet at a tine to 1mg. Now I'm taking 1mg 3 times a day. I also take Amanadine 1mg. 3 times a day. Hope this helps. Blessings.

What drives me crazy is people telling me they have bad memory too and that it's just part of getting old - bull sh*t! My memory has been slipping at a much faster clip. I have all the proof I need. I know how I was before. I don't know it's due to the meds or the disease but it's real nonetheless!

I'm sorry your having problems with your memory. I haven't had any problems with it so far. Co-Q10 is suppose to help as well as some other supplements. You might get some help at a Health Foods Store. But you better check with your Dr. too.
