Hello nonnie,
I am on none of the PD medications that you are on so, it is difficult to say. I am on Sinemet, by have taken Amitriptyline to aid my sleep in the past and it was the Amitriptyline that led me to having a very dry mouth which was a possible side effect anyway. Regarding your bad breath, and taste in mouth, together with dry mouth could be down to the medication you are taking. Have you thoroughly read the leaflets that come with your medications to see if these are recognised side effects?
Regards
Norton
If I remember correctly Mirapex has, as a side effect, "dry mouth" - have a look at the patient information leaflet to check. Oh I've just seen Norton has suggested this too.
Oh yes I'm not on azilect and trade mirapax for requip and we are on same med and yes my breath and mouth taste terrible I'm very self concious about it chew allot of gum and I'm so dry have to drink something all the time. Sure its the medicine. Yuck huh
Amantadine dries my mouth.
Thanks everyone for your input. I think a couple of my meds cause dry mouth which results in bad taste and breath . I will try drinking more and gum. I have tried the Biotene toothpaste and spray, but no improvement. My meds are crucial for me at this point, so doing without is no option. It is great to be a part of this group. It is comforting to talk to ones who understand and support you.
