Should Parkinson's Patients Take Creatine? | LIVESTRONG.COM

Above is a link there is quite a lot of info on the web about it, but no real confirmation that it works. I still believe that although the PD drugs help, they tend to cause many other problems which we could really do without having to cope with. I think if the scientists could solve some of these problems life would be much easier.

When i was dxd in 2005 (aged 40) there was a bit of pressure to start PD drugs as soon as possible - i resisted this until , i felt, my tremour got worse. I now take Requip XL and have just started (6 months ago) on Madopar. I have always resisted any increase until i feel i needed it. In the meantime i have carried on a fairly intense exercise regime (I've trained for , and completed 12 marathons since 2001), and started practicing Tai Chi just over 2yrs ago. All of this helps to keep my PD in check - although i also retired from my career as a Firefighter only last year , so the total lack of "work stress" also appears to help. I think i'll give Creatine a go , i know there is no real, solid proof that it works but i'll give it a shot and tell you how i get on ? After all - if you never try you'll never know !!

why not? We have to stay strong !

Dr. J. Rao, New Orleans, Louisiana did a creatine study at Oschner hospital. He is retired now but is a really interesting person. I'm not sure if he ever completed the study because hurricane Katrina hit the city. You can go to Nola.com. it is a wealth of info. Or oschner hospital.com hes the kind of doctor that might give you a personal call. Good luck
