Parkinsons and food.

I know we are what we eat and that Parkinsons and meds do not react well to some foods. However, last night we went out, as a family, to a Chinese Restaurant. We had a lovely Chinese Banquet, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. I did not feel that I had over indulged. but had a really terrible night. I have trouble sleeping, but this was something else. Slept, as usual, for about 2 hours then woke very, very hot and not feeling right at all. Tremor returned earlier than usual and was unable to get back to sleep.

Assume this could be due to the food, but not sure what. Would be very grateful for any suggestions as this has not happened in the past. Though we only rarely have Banquets.

The MSG or the timing with your meds. If you ate a lot of protein, it could have interfered with the absorption of your meds.

MSG does that to me, including heart palpitations and breathlessness.

That's exactly how I felt. We only go to these Banquets very rarely. Next time I go, I will know what to expect and plan the fiollowing day accordingly. Still not back to 'normal' yet, but getting there.

Some restaurants deny they have added MSG.

Look at this: From: infowars.com/dr-russell-bla...

"But over time, we saw destruction of major portions of the brain – things that could cause Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s” and other brain ailments." r

More info: It's sold under different names, too....

Thanks for this. I did not realise MSG was in so many foodstuffs. I knew, and tried to avoid some, but will take me a while to assimilate the information. Some, are everyday foods, which I eat regularly A real eye opener..

I avoid Chinese because of the MSG and the high sodium soy-- I don't miss it at all.

I avoid Chinese food because I don't like cat........ok, calm down everyone, I'm just kidding around. If we can't laugh at ourselves who can? Ok, ok, I don't like dog either! LOL

I agree with everyone else - it was the MSG in the food. Chinese food or any food with MSG is not good.

You can request at some Chinese places that they leave the MSG out of your food! But so many of them are already frozen and have MSG in them. Which makes this impossible! I have noticed that I get a terrific headache after eating chinese food! Our local chinese place, you can request anything be made without MSG except egg rolls! They are made and frozen when they get them! Hope this helps! It's always worth asking! Of course a buffet you can not do this! I think everything on it has MSG!

Blessings,

Carol

It is not always what you eat but sometimes how it was prepared. I experience the same symptoms you are describing when I eat anything oil deep fried or an excessive amount of sugar intake. Because we are all different you will, unfortunately, have to figure it out yourself. I can only suggest that every time you experience these symptoms that you make notes of exactly what you have had to eat prior and how it was prepared and ……..eventually the correlation will become evident. It sounds crazy, but I have discovered that the intake of cocoa (one small slice of home baked chocolate cake) will turn me from “on” to “off” within 30 minutes. I know it is a pain in the backside to keep notes but it is the only way to determine what does not work for you.
