Whats going on with Mirapex? Is Heart failure a side effect of the drug?

I read about this and was like "Really, they have cured Parkinson's with the heart attack. How revolutionary.". If we sat down and read those warning labels we would never take any of these meds just for what they "might" do to us. But the facts I think would show very few people have been affected per number taking this med.

I remember I study years ago about a scientist who ground up dimes and fed them to rats to see what health problems would arise. Majority of the rats developed cancer from eating the dimes and the scientist was so happy and published his findings. His conclusion, don't eat dimes. True story.

I saw the story also and don't worry too much about what it says. Like WayneP says, if we read and believed all those label warnings, we would never take anything. I figure if there is anything to worry about my doctor will tell me. Besides, what other choices do we have to try and alleviate our symptoms as there isn't much out there to take.

I had to stop Mirapex, because I had a reaction to it! Dermatoligist did a biopsy on a rash and said it was a reaction to a drug! The only thing new I had been on was the Mirapex and I stopped it, and the rash is gone! I have no idea about the heart! I heard a Minister preach one time about all the drugs you see advertised and when they say 2 reasons to take it and 13 reasons not to take it, what do you think? I know we don't have a choice about some things with PD, but I refuse to be a lab rat! Everything I do take I research before I fill the prescription and I decide if it's worth it or not! And I am working on cutting back on some I am already taking! I pray everyday they will find something new for PD! This new thing from MJ Fox is interesting, but that will be at least three or many more years before that would be available in the US!

Carol if the new thing from MJ Fox is Amantadine as reported I'm sure it has been available in US for years. He certainly seems to have got his regime right at the moment whatever it is he is on.

I'm with you , Carol. Life on Mirapex for ME was a nightmare! It works for others I know. I haven't polled them as to whether they've had heart problems, although I know one did. Not scientific I know
