Thank you. I thought I wanted to know, but it turns out I couldn't take it. Just like childbirth I guess there are things I can do that I can't bear to watch.
Yes, just like my mom when she was having surgery for blocked artery in her neck. Found her the video of that and she could not take it. Was rather funny watching her try.
The unknown is always scary but just do your research and make the best decision for YOU. In the end, it is all about you and your situation and not that of any others.
This reminded me so much of what my Dad went through when he had the Gamma Knife procedures done. Same frame and placement...same CT scan...same pre-procedure mapping. And that's where the similarities ended. Wow. I suppose we're fortunate to have this option available to us.
We have to be thankful for the times we live in medically. In years past this was make believe stuff. People could not imagine such wonders in medicine, they would throw a couple of leaches on you and send you on your way. Ahhhh the good old days! We are truly blessed.
Amen to that, WayneP! When my brother and I watched my Dad get prepped for the first Gamma Knife, we were just blown away by the entire process and what they were going to accomplish. Times like this when I'm reminded that I should be just a tad more patient with my own treatment. "Back in the day" things were so much worse for PD patients. Grateful that its 2012.
Yes camper, tried to find a reference for you but failed . Depends what your surgeon does but the one i spoke to in London always does it under general and uses imaging machine for placement. He is a very good surgeon (and v handsome too).
