I tried to search any study but could not find it.
What happens if a normal person take sine... - Cure Parkinson's
What happens if a normal person take sinemet regularly for long time
"What is a common side effect from using levodopa over the years?
The most common side effects in older patients taking levodopa can be confusion, hallucinations, delusions, psychosis, and agitation"
"There may be a greater risk of hip fractures in older adults due to levodopa mildly increasing homocysteine levels as an adverse effect. Patients presenting with an idiopathic parkinsonian disorder and who are on levodopa can also develop low serum vitamin B12, elevated methylmalonic acid levels, and greater chances of sensorimotor peripheral neuropathy. "
Problems with long-term levodopa therapy for Parkinson's disease
"It has been clarified that long-term levodopa therapy in Parkinson's disease may pose various serious problems of adverse reactions, such as dyskinesia, wearing-off effect, on-off effect, mental symptoms, and frozen gait."
this is a fairly old trial result from 1997
I wonder what is considered long term....does anyone know please ?
Just wondering why you would ask in the first place?
Why would any normal person take Sinemet at all? I believe it is not available without a neurologist prescription.
I wouldn't be surprised if many people are misdiagnosed at first given diagnosis is often by observing symptoms rather than a definitive test, then begin meds which have side effects and require other meds
True... but the inference here is normal person, not someone who is diagnosed or misdiagnosed due to an underlying condition or displayed symptoms 🙏
Ok but I wouldn’t think someone with no health issues or symptoms would take it.
But if they did, I would think that anyone normal who takes it for a dopamine boost would still get addicted to it and begin to have wearing off symptoms, much like they would with any narcotic drug.
Farouk: what is the story then? Is this a communication problem or using the wrong word? Or are you really talking about a person who does NOT have Parkinson's taking sinemet for a long time?
Makes perfect sense to ask this question since the first thing anyone with any symptoms at all is told to do is try pd meds. If those meds raise dopamine, they are by definition addicting.
