Find people near me ?
Good Morning from Florida, I worked in the north sea in the Oil Ind. before takung ill. I love your country. I was born in Canada but moved to Florida 22 years ago. I think Canadais more like Norway then yhe USA.
Regards
ERIC
How nice to hear from you and what you say about Norway. Then there must be a map somewhere we can register the place we come from. But now I know you from Florida and myself from Norway
I have often seen a map to indictae where peoples origins are.
I somehow have not been able to find it.
Hi monast, pleased to meet you. I am in UK. Look forward to visiting Norway one day - i hope. I imagine a boat ride through the fiords........
The question of where people live has come up before and there is a map kindly done by a member. This is the link. I suggest you search using the word 'map' and you will find a couple of threads with instructions how to use.
monast, We do indeed have other members from Norway, one a gentleman who becomes quite active on the site from time to time. (I shall respect his privacy here.) We have also heard recently from France, Germany,Japan and, of course, a large number of contacts from throughout the UK and here in the USA.
I was pleased to see your question. I have considered suggesting, just for fun, that we conduct an unofficial "Roll Call", (voluntary) to allow members to report their geographical location anywhere in the world. Members from the United KIngdom or the United States or elsewhere who choose to give more detailed information would be welcome to do so.
Please let me know what you think.
There is a very long thread ( over 90 posts) started in january on this. Perhaps we could just resurrect it.
Both ronn and Hikoi - you have good ideas. Would be nice to be able to see a map belonging to Parkinsonsmovement.healthunlocked.com - where we can have a view of us geographically. Not that it matters were we come from, we have the same interest. To give and to get advice, and to be able to discuss Parkinsons with other people.

Greetings from New Orleans, Louisiana! I was born in south Texas and moved to New Orleans in 1987.
Amherst, NY. It's a suburb of Buffalo,NY and about 20 minuets from Niagara Falls.
Still no one from Scandinavia?
monast, Believe me, they are there. You have heard from less than thirty out of a group of 1700+ members. They "tune in" and "tune out" as eveyone else does. Be patient, Scandinavians are well represented.
My grandfather and grandmother immigrated from Norway, drove a team of horses across country, "homesteaded" 150 acres of land in the State of North Dakota, USA, and raised a large family (several large families) of proud Norwegians, some of whom still "snakker Norsk". I hope our heartfelt "Welcome to the group" will suffice until you can establish contact with some reallll Norwegians.
Have Patience.
Amarillo texas here hi with all this shaking going on its a wonder we haven't all run into each other
Yes, strange,
I was born and raised in Santa Cruz, CA. I now live in Tracy, CA I went to my first support group on Thursday and there must have been 40 people there. Some were caregivers, but most PWP. I saw first hand what lays ahead and I am not taking it well. I spent 3 days last week-end in my room crying, it was my first melt down in quite awhile. Right now I shake and sweat, sweat, sweat was never hot in my life always cold My doctor said the sweating was from working so hard to use the muscles. I get cramps in my legs and my right arm, when I have the craps in my arm I can't be on the computer, it hurts too much. Nice to have such a large group of PWP from all over the world. That sounds funny, it's not nice that there are so many PWP's, it's nice that we can chat with people from other states and even countries.Welcome Monast, I'm Precious44.
Oh I feel so sorry for you, but I guess you are newly diagnosed. I felt like you when I first visited a support meeting, and after 8 years from having the diagnose, I sometines feel sad. But this is the one life I have got (I guess) and I have decided to do the best out of my life with PD. So I spend a lot of time at home exersising to whatever makes me happy, and I try to live my life as full as possible. These 8 years have been ok, and I am fighting every sympthoms I get. I Pay attention to how i look every day, because that also makes me feel better. Sounds like everything is wonderful, but of course - I have my ups and downs.
But good Luck to you.
No not newly diagnosed almost 10 years. I spend the first 2 years in my room in a very deep depression. I have suffered from PTS and deep depression for many, many years, but had just moved to a new area so had to find a new Psychiatrist, I had liked the one I had had so very much, he became sick and died. I have spend iIts hard to go to new doctors and start all over again. The last years still at home, had no friends here, left my friends behind when I moved. Plus the tremors were so bad I didn't like to go out. With in this year I have made two really great friends here, 4 months ago I had back surgery. I live in a two story house and I have 18 stairs up to my bedroom, it makes it difficult to go up and down. My balance is not good and I have been falling plus the cramps in my legs and arms, which are so painful. Then there is the swearing, it is embarrassing if I am out, because it just drips off my neck. Denial was one of the reasons I never went to a support group before. I am doing the best I can every day, I have many hobbies, jewelry making is one and I still do it on my good days . I am having lots of head aches, does anyone else have head aches? I had the melt down after visiting family in another town and I truly believe it is okay to have a melt down once in awhile as long as it only lasts a couple of days.I also pay attention to my hair, make-up and dress as I always have. I am a christian and believe in God and his power. I have had much trauma in my life, from loosing my first born son when he was 3, I was married for 30 years to a man who drank and had affairs, I survived a violent rape at the age of 47, my childhood was not a happy one I had an abusive step father and it goes on, so I have questioned why this too. Oh yes and my second husband who was the love of my life, died after only 3 1/2 years. If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all. Sorry to go on and on, but I felt defensive and needed to explain where I was coming from.

and now I am married with children. Lived in Houston where I was first diagnosed with PD 5 yrs ago and now live in Denver CO. I would love to visit Norway!

Monas comments: So if it is possible - we would like to be able to search for a country and see the members username. Or are there other suggestiones?
We've recently added a feature which allows you to enter your postcode to see who is near you (of course others have to enter their postcode too). The feature is new so you may be the first to opt in, but others will be there soon too! You can see it here: healthunlocked.com/people-n...
I like this feature.
HU/Parkinsonsmovement is my support group. I live in Nogal (pronounced no gal), New Mexico, USA. DX December 2012 (or was it November 2012) No meds, No DBS for me by choice. I have Tremor Dominant form.

Hallo? You are not the only One .. I'm from Norway to .
Hallo! You are not the only One coming from Norway.
I Tried to find out who comes from where, but at least we are two from Norway
Yes we are, but it is strange because I have told a lot of friends to take a look at Healthunlocked 😊🇳🇴🇳🇴
I've read through these 3 years of answers since I asked the question -" where do you all live? " Very Nice to read again all those Nice comments, and I felt a bit like we were a large Family. I also read that some of you had huge problems, - but it feel somewhat strange to Write to those of you, after 3 years and ask how you are. I Guess you know who I mean.
Perhaps most of you did not understand these cryptic Words, but.....
Anyway - Nice to read Your comments again, lots of you presenting yourselves, telling about immigrating from Norway and so on.
But how does this link work that Joel made? When I registered my postcode I only found a few People Close to me. But what is 500 KM - it could be all over Scandinavia, of course. ok, that was my thoughts today. A little bit to and fro....
