Has he taken the Brand name at all? My husband gets diarrhea at times and is on the Brand name. Here is an 800 number for financial help with aricept 1-800-226-2072.

Does he take his dose at night? He may want to try eating something when he takes it to help the stomach pain.

He has tried the brand name Aricept and couldn't tolerate it so they thought a generic might work better. He takes it at night before he goes to bed so maybe food would help. I will try that. I don't thing any of these dementia drugs are working for him - actually I feel they are doing more damage but the dr. thinks I'm crazy.

The Dr will think that. It seems if you have difficulties with taking drugs or side effects, and you tell the GP they quite often take little notice.

I certainly empathise with you.

I started on Ripirinole recently and after three doses I am getting tingling in my legs, severe flu symptoms which have disspeared next day until my next dose, so I know it is the drug..

Doctors always think they know best, but if you are the carer you see it everyday. what does your husband think?

I had a rough start with ropirinole, had swelling in my legs and I get so tired I just fall asleep watching tv, or just sitting. The fatigue is still pretty bad , but thats so far the only side effect, I start azilect tomorrow, so well see how that goes. I agree drs don't listen it took 7 years of trying to make them listen , my wife going to patients advocates just to make them hear us. People can tell there is something wrong, we live with whats happening inside.

This is a common side effect. Of this type of medicine if he can't tolerate by taking with food and starting with lower dose every other day until he builds up tolerance is not worth to have more side effects than disease...alternative is talk to your doctor about trying excel on patch which is similar class but because is topical it bypasses gut and he may be able to tolerate better :) good luck.
