I am feeling overwhelmed at the moment. I was diagnosed with PD over 30 yrs ago at the old age of 29. I remember going to my first support group and thinking I willl never get like these people ......blink of an eye....fast forward 30 yrs and BAM I am there......Wow really? Afraid so dude you are there. I am so tired......sometimes after a fall (frequently) I just want to lay there....so tired of getting up! .....but I do get up . got alot of things happening right know......Thanks for letting me vent!

no problem dude - i am 65 and have had PD for 2.3 years and i am now officialy an OLD WOMAN - ie i cannot walk and cannot do anything like cooking and cleaning and gardening - all the things which helped my husband - so i m pretty fed- up too !!

I get you both!!! I am 47 and in just 4 years have gone from walking fine to having to use a walker. Bam!!!!! Just like that!!!! What does the future hold, don't know but today looks beautiful!!!!!

hi

i too am bemoanign not being able to do ajny of hte things i sued ot do liek cookign tidying / walking swimmign etc

all because i have PSP

I have done everythign asked of em except moving away to a gorudn floor flat and getting hte LPA ijn place

and the move is really stressinig me out

30 years. I admire your courage. I've been diagnosed for two years and feel like the others. My walking has deteriorated, and so on and so on. Saw my neurologist today who I like but basically was saying "good luck and God Bless".

The doctor who diagnosed me came into the room...looked at me and said....I'm sorry...but you have Parkinson's Disease.....I fired back with...Why are you sorry and what the hell is Parkinson's?? He then explained to me that it is a progressive degenerative disease meaning it never gets better...it only gets worse.....then he sent me to the above mentioned support group...it was the first and last time I went to the support group as well as the doctor............

yep- well I met my new neuro yesterday. No choices here - the only one on our Big Island. Like him well enough, got my prescriptions and the usual comments :

"young when dx" -age 45 , I know, bummer

"doing well" sure, this moment

"looking good" compared to what?the general population or your other patients.

11 years in as of May and keep the' moving forward" mantra going. Hope it applies to the research too.

Courage? heck, no. just stubborn and willful. Try not to think of what I've lost but what remains as gifts each and every day.

So sorry to hear that you got PD so young! My husband has had occasional tremors in his right arm since he was 58 and they didn't worry him much till he was in his 70's when he got quite shaky and stammery if he got upset or felt stressed. I didn't realise it was PD and he'd had 2 triple by-passes then heart failure and I put it down to effects from that. His dr. diagnosed him quite recently when other symptoms were evident, he's almost 79 now and on levodopa+benserazide and I want to help him as much as I can. You must have learnt so much about PD over the years so will look forward to any hints you may be able to give. Best wishes to you. Suffering Socks
