this is rather embarassing - but does anyone suffer from intestinal gas - sometimes uncontrolable?

Yes. I think it's more to do with meds than PD. Sinemet is notorious for causing constipation which in turn can lead to over procuction of gut gas.

Yes, and some days it is so bad, and I do not take and PD meds. Not a very friendly complication is it???

Yes, some days it's so bad I just want to seclude myself in my room. To be in public is very embarrassing.

As John Ball of Team Parkinson's says he produces enough gas to light up his suburb nightly .

It comes with the territory and it doesn't matter whether you live down under or in the Northern Hemisphere bear it with a grin and hope others can smile with you.

More important - has anyone found a solution?

I have the problem too, but I don't think it's just Parkey's that have the problem. Everyone has gas, it's part of the digestion process. Embarrassing yes but just excuse yourself and let 'er rip!

Yes - it's embarrassing. I didn't know for sure if it had to do with PD but I hate it.

My response is: Fart proudly!! Getting it out of your system is ever so much better than bloating. It is an unfortunate byproduct of our Puritanical culture. Another suggestion (I have a steamer trunk full) identify the foods that cause a nasty odor and avoid eating them. That can differ from 1 person to another. One of my grands gets hysterical when he farts in the bath and makes bubbles. Now that's the attitude!

Yup, same problem... to the point that I am expecting a letter from Macy's offering me a job as a floating character in their next thanksgiving day parade!

I find that Beano sometimes prevnts it, Gas X sometimes relieves bloating and pain, and that high chlorophyll foods and chlorophyl supplements sometimes alleviate odors. Some folks also report success w/charcoal pill supplements. Unfortunately they can sometimes exacerbate constipation.
