I have been taking mucuna for at least a year. It does nothing for the muscles but exerts a calming effect inside. It also is a mood uplifter. I would also like to know what other meds you are taking. Thanks

I have experimented with it off and on for several years. Started again two weeks ago, in fact. I was taking 1800 mg of ldopa and was having increasing problems, esp with freezing, increasing off time, stress response, sleep, etc. All those improved immediately and ldopa is down to 1200 mg/day. I am using ground. whole bean powder (Banyan Botanicals via Amazon).

I've wanted to get it in the powder form. I'm not on l-dopa at all. I'm taking Mirapex and Amanadine. How much of the powder do you take when do you take it and do you mix it with water ?

There is a natural form of L-Dopa found in the bean Mucuna Pruriens . As it is a form of L-Dopa it has has the same potential side effects as other L-Dopa medication. Because of this it is important that anyone considering this option do not self medicate but take it under medical monitoring.

The two links above will take you to an archive where a group of us delved into mucuna pretty deeply. I still use it at times but heed the cautions in our discussions. It is a real drug.
