yes I’ve tried it and helped a lot with anxiety and FOG (freezing).

What kind of watch did/do you have that the app worked on?

Thank you

I specifically bought a smartwatch, a refurbished Samsung Watch Pro 5, which, based on my research, has the most powerful motor. I had no expectations whatsoever—in fact, I bought it on Amazon so I could return it if needed.

I am confused. The question is regarding Beech Band, or the Beech Band App, or the Smart Watch?

Would you please share details of your improvement and how do you use the Samsung watch to achieve the improvements?

The BeechBand is a standalone device that doesn’t require a watch or smartphone, though it’s not available yet. The BeechBand team has also developed a smartwatch app that provides a continuous vibration—nothing more, nothing less. I’ve found it helpful for freezing and anxiety, though less so for tremors. Interestingly, it might also be helping with constipation since I started using the watch, but that could just be a coincidence.

You can find more information on the BeechBand website and in the Facebook group. I’m not advocating for it, but it’s been beneficial for me. That said, every person with Parkinson’s (PwP) is different, and I don’t want to create false expectations. I’ve been living with PD for 12 years now.

Thanks. I was aware of the band, but not about the app.

Can't find the app on Play store

Just beginning to roll it out....says it helps 4 out of 5 people. IF it helps the results seem quite remarkable for speech and tremors, and gait. They are reputable people methinks and there are plenty of videos to watch. Also FB group now up and running for people's results. Check it out.

Perhaps if I share my experience with the app, it may help someone. I went in anticipating a noticeable difference immediately with the app turned on versus off and that isn't what I experienced. I then had the app on for several hours a day over several days and am now seeing reduced tremors and improved sense of smell as well as minor improvement in arm swing. What's interesting is that I still don't have a significant difference with the app on or off, but instead there seems to be a cumulative effect on the central nervous system that is beneficial whether the app is on at any given time.

The other thing I would mention is to suggest that you don't go in expecting improvement to specific symptoms. Remember, the app doesn't know what our specific issues are. You may be unaware of how the app is benefiting you if you are not targeting a particular symptom. In my case, an improved sense of smell was a pleasant surprise rather than an expectation.

I hope this helps someone and I am curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I’ve tried the app numerous times and I can’t see any difference in my symptoms. It’s unfortunate that it doesn’t help with my symptoms. I have seen the videos of the people that it’s helping it’s brilliant. Oh well nothing ventured nothing gained.

I have tried a metronome app on my galaxy watch 3. The vibration speed is adjustable, but the intensity and length of vibration is not. The BB app will not work on such an old watch!

The only difference I found when I compared the metronome app to the Beechband app was that the BB lasted fractionally longer ( my nephew has the galaxy watch 6).

Main symptom is right arm tremor, an sadly no real improvement for me, but there are many success stories on BB website.

I will still try to order a watch when they become available to help support their efforts, and if it works for some, it’ll work for others.

Definitely worth a shot.

and it works for you?

are you using the soundbrenner pulse watch? How many beats per minute do you have it set to?

Minotauro profile image
Minotauro in reply tomichelagvolpe

I decided to try and expirement with my Tens unit to see if it had a tapping mode and it does. It taps at a rate of between 75 and 79 taps per minute so I attached two contacts to my arm and tried it hoping it might help with my latest symptom of short stepping/gait freeze. It's definitely not as dramatic as those PWP in Carl's videos on his website but I've found it helps sometimes. I think the theraputic affect happens when you get used to the tapping to the point that you don't notice it. The problem with using the my Tens is that it will only run a maximum of 60 minuites so I have to reset he time often. It seems to help sometimes but not instantly like in his videos but it if you have a Tens unit laying around you might want to check it out. It might be worth a try for you. Make sure you check all the simulated functions of your tens because I found that on mine, the mode that simulates a tap is called a crosscut fist kneading?

Cheers, Craig

I recently found a metronome watch on Amazon and definitely to buy one ($39) it is fully customizable but seems to work well at 76bpm. I’m currently trying the app running on a Samsung galaxy pro 5 on one wrist and the new metronome watch on my other wrist. The results are good for me and I feel like having both running helps my speech more than just the app running.
