Thanks! And how long have you been doing that? And do you test for your levels fairly regularly? And again thanks for responding

Taking Vitamin D3 without taking any vitamin K, because if you have a high level of vitamin D3 without enough vitamin K, the calcium might not transfer to the bones properly and instead end up in the vascular tissue.

There are products sold as a combo of these 2.

I’ve been taking 5000 Vit D with K2 for several yrs. One purpose is for bone health. The ND learned that the K needs to be K7 form . We’ll see when I’m re-tested in a few months

Be good for you to report back because I've seen conflicting things including one very famous YouTube chiropractor who nevertheless makes out of field recommendations, and very intensive, insistent and confident ones at that, recommending what I would consider pretty large amounts of D3 (25,000 i.u.) for immune support in general along with a zinc cofactor. Usually I steer clear of the guy but he was talking about toenail fungus in that conversation and I was sort of curious about that so I stuck around. If he has a very big following a lot of people are going to hear that 25,000 international units and so I'm wondering what other people here think. I have personally gone to between 5,000 and 10,000 in a multivitamin but I don't have it well informed idea as to why or how much it ought to be or what the co-factors ought to be and any cautions or side effects. Just haven't really studied it very much.

1000 - 2000 IU/day. Test once a year. Last year result was 50 ng/ml.

Currently 15,000 iu + K2 twice a day for the last couple of months because it's winter and I've been fighting a skin infection recently.

So for you its 15000 iu twice a day?

Eryl in reply toghoegap

Yes, for my current situation and time of year with no side effects so far. I will probably reduce the dose to 5,000 iu once or twice a day as the weather and my health condition improves.

Thanks to all. Most interesting. Listened to Laurie K Mischley talking about there being a sweet spot with D3 where parkinson's is concerned.

I have been supplementing with 5000 IU for 6 years. I've been told by several doctors and and a Biologic Dentist to keep my levels close to 50. I test 2-3 times a year to stay current. Taking vit K with D is critical .Dr Livingood has a great short video on youtube about vit D go to you tube - search bar dr livingood on vitamin D

Has you PD progressed? Is the Vitamin D helping you?

ghoegap profile image
ghoegap in reply tosmv123

Hi! My husband has PD. He has been taking D3 for years . Its in the form of calciferol so 50,000 IU per week. We have never considered till now increasing this. Certainly his symptoms progressed over the past 7 years. We are increasing the B12 now too. he is in better shape now than a year ago. Cinnamon has made a difference. Tanganil has made a difference as well although he is still on very low dosage with that. That nice Parkinson's channel is called No silver bullet and that I reckon is the truth. No silver bullet but a broad approach.
