Anyone with knowledge of duloxetine?

I've been all over the lot with supplements to help my symptoms - we've all been there I believe. Anyhow, a month ago i was complaining to my podiatrist about ongoing pain in my left foot; dystonia. She prescribed 30mg duloxetine, and SNRI anti-depressant. I had my doubts...

however, after just one capsule not only did my left foot respond but my stiff/inflexible core and sore shoulder. i was stunned.

then the drawback after day 3 - sore jaw and teeth due to clenching.

i am back to trying it again, with similarly amazing results. had gotten to the point i could hardly stand with out running across the room to catch myself; foot and legs were cramped up; shoulder so painful i couldn't lift an empty cup. within 2hrs of first capsule and everything was already significantly better.

so, has anyone else experienced similar with duloxetine? anyone know what mechanism in that drug is so beneficial?

Duloxetine is commonly prescribed for that purpose. Not controversial at all. You are on the low starting dose. It is very rare to go above 60 mg, for most people the top dose is 60. Side effects are rare. Serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, and that's exactly what it does, inhibits their reuptake, thus those two secreted hormones/transmitters stay in operation longer once secreted. For depression it is common for people to be on it for decades, and the mild pain neuralgia pain management, desensitization, and anxiety moderation can sometimes be a welcome side benefit, and it's often prescribed for those.

I’ve been on 40 mg a day for over a year now. It was prescribed for back pain, but it has helped my depression and anxiety immensely.

I was on Duloxetine 60 mg for quite a few years (7) and it helped with my anxiety (GAD), and had a side effect of stopping a vocal tic that I had developed. I recently was switched to escitilopram (Lexapro).
