My neurologist prescribed propranolol for my tremors. I read that some folks had success with it. Unfortunately it gave me nausea and abdominal pain. Any suggestions on how not to get these side effects

propranolol forvtremors
The neurologist had my husband try this medication when he was trying to determine if he had essential tremor or Parkinson's back in 2017. This medication made him have nausea and dizziness. It can make the blood pressure go too low and since my husband has always had blood pressure in the very low range it is possible that this made his blood pressure go too low. He only took it for a couple days but he was so uncomfortable that he called the doctor and said he did not want to take it.
Your neurologist is correct. Propranolol does help control tremors and it works with many patients, including myself.
Unfortunately, as Boscoejean has pointed out in her comments, it also lowers blood pressure and for some, it might be to very low levels. I experienced lows below 80 for the top number.
I still use it sparingly under extreme circumstances.
