I'm getting on for two years post diagnosis. I exercise daily and have noticed a considerable improvement in my symptoms since starting exercise and meds early this year. However after 9 months of doing pretty well I've developed almost constant nausea (lots of burping, sort of motion sickness and that lump in your throat when you feel like you might be sick) for the past 5 weeks. I'm wondering if anyone else has this and how they have dealt with it? I'm on daily madopar 100mg, 3 times and day and 6mg neupro. Could this be meds even though I've been fine for 9 months or is this a sign of progression? I read that gastroparesis is common in PD but not seen lots discussed about it. All feedback and thoughts appreciated

Nausea: is this gastroparesis, meds or something else?
After 5 years on Madopar I started Neupro 14 months ago. From day 1 , the 2mg patch made me very nauseous. Same going up to 4mg a month later. Over a year later I am still slightly nauseous on waking.I tolerate it because it helps me sleep at night, and it stretches the Madopar doses a little. I drink ginger or peppermint tea first thing and that clears it.
I've had gastroparesis for decades, and it's also getting worse and I put that down to progression. I eat Prunes figs and apples to deal with that .
Thanks Parkie1 . I definitely find the nausea worse in the morning and not so bad in the evenings. I take my patch before sleep so perhaps that is having an interaction? Here in the UK you have to wait almost a year to see your mds for 15 minutes so I'm hoping to find some relief at least. Could I ask how you make the ginger tea? Is it slices of ginger or an actual product tea bag?
Hello there Jefferami, I'm also UK, so you'll get plenty of tea bags in shops: Pukka 3 ginger, Good Earth Morracan mint are lovely, but I often get a piece of ginger root and add hot water. I've experimented with timings ,and the best time for my patch in 10:00 am , then it makes me sleepy in the evening.
Any other symptoms? Early satiety. Bloating. Losing weight. Abdo pain???
I like Parkie's ginger solution: it's not only an antiemetic but it also speeds up gastric emptying.
Hi, I take Madopar 100mg/25/mg Levadopa every 2 hours from 7am. 10mg ropinerole and 100 mg saffinamide in the evening. I haven,t heard about neutron. However I have discovered there can be unusual interactions between essential meds, supplements and foods. See if there is anything you take or eat that coincides with your symptoms then ask your nurse or neurologist if there could be a connection. Sorry I can’t help you much, but do keep up the exercise.
