I'm 61 and was dx 7 years ago. Physically I'm well, cardio and weights 6 hours per week. I am struggling with slower speech and being able to articulate quickly in social situations such dinner parties or a one on one conversation. Is anyone aware of a treatment, games, or exercises that can help improve this? Additionally, I'm looking for things to improve my fine motor dexterity i.e. texting?Thank you!

"- Before doing small movements such as doing up zips or buttons

Shake out your hands to loosen them up.

Create a tight fist then stretch your fingers and palms out.

On both hands, touch the tip of each finger to the tip of the thumb. ...

Make sure both hands keep the same timing and size of movement.

Repeat."

not sure if this would work but I guess worth a try- there are some videos on youtube with similar types of exercises if you key in hand exercises for Parkinson's

"Parkinson's Voice Project SPEAK OUT!® is a less-intensive speech therapy program specifically for people with Parkinson's that combined speech, voice, and cognitive exercises. The program focuses on speaking with “intent.” The treatment is provided in twelve 45-minute sessions along with daily home practice"

vielight.com/ I have been using this device for about 13 weeks. It is photobiomodulation red light therapy.

I have noticed I'm able to hold conversations better and my voice is stronger. Prior to use I was skipping over a word occasionally. I haven't noticed it since use.

I think my fine motor is doing slightly better but I only started noticing that last week so I'm still gathering data..

This device takes 6 to 12 weeks to see first results.

If you are interested in trying it, you can return it up to 6 months later for 80% refund.

I wear it 20 minutes a day 6 days a week.

NIR therapy can certainly have beneficial effects. Personally, I make it a point to soak up my daily dose of free sunlight. I find that the impact of infrared light, especially in the morning and evening, works wonders for these PD symptomes. There's something truly revitalizing about being outdoors, embracing the natural light!
