The study "Toxoplasma Modulates Signature Pathways of Human Epilepsy, Neurodegeneration & Cancer" delves into how the parasite Toxoplasma gondii affects human brain cells, possibly linking it to diseases like epilepsy, neurodegeneration, and cancer. Researchers conducted RNA sequencing on infected cells, revealing significant changes in gene expression. Key findings include:

Inflammatory Response: T. gondii activates immune pathways, leading to chronic inflammation.

Apoptosis and Cell Death: The parasite disrupts normal cell death processes.

Neurotransmitter Signaling: Changes in neural communication could underlie neurological symptoms.

Cancer Pathways: T. gondii affects cell cycle regulation, potentially leading to tumor growth.

These disruptions highlight potential mechanisms by which T. gondii contributes to neurological and oncological diseases, offering insights for future therapeutic strategies.

And what about Lyme disease and Chlamydia pneumonia, these are also intracellular parasites/ bacterias... are causing low grade long time inflammation... Regarding the Toxoplasma - couple years ago there was a study suggesting it could be a treatment for Parkinson's as infected animals (don't remember which one it was) was producing more dopamine and therefore were more friendly and they somehow helped to spread the infection among the population....🧐this is a lot of my interest as i spent my childhood with animals...

So what is it you're asking?

The original studies, T. Gondii life cycle was observed to go through cat feces into humans, really interesting. Infected mice not only completely lost their natural fear of cats, they actually went right up to cats who just gobbled them up, rather than being afraid of the cats and running/hiding from them. A great way too for the virus to get itself back into the cat, fueling "intentional design, there must be a Maker" (as in "Gosh this is so freaking elegant it must be the case that somebody made us, there really must be a God") beliefs and evolutionary theorists both, because think about it the T. Gondii life cycle seems to have something for everybody.

I know my cats probably agreed (before we forced them to become indoor-only cats forcing to eat God only knows what and make their do in a cat box, after which I think they might have started believing in the Devil, along with a devilish of sense of humor).

I suspect this effect of toxoplasmosis has something to do with why cat lovers in their turn also love cats, because it sure doesn't seem to make any sense otherwise (which my dog would also tell you if she could speak). I know as a cat lover I have often pondered just exactly what the attraction should be, cuz it does not make a lot of rational sense to me either. In fact, having cats involves so much expense and trouble and overall "hassle factor," actually rather considerable, I've often found myself wondering "why me?"
