I have been getting hives almost every day during the last few weeks. Taking Benedryl helps but it’s making me sleepy so my Doctor told me to take Allegra. My question is I have to take it almost every day otherwise the hives come back. Why do I keep getting hives, what’s causing it and what type of Doctor can help me with this issue? TIA

Hives
My son gets hives from dogs and from detergents containing enzymes, my daughter gets them from certain perfumes, I've gotten them from certain antibiotics. Have you recently switched to any new cleaning products, personal care products, colognes, etc, or has something else in your environment changed--even new furniture (my brother once got them from sitting on a new couch that was treated with stain repellent)? I would see an allergist for testing if you can't figure it out.
Zyrtec, which is the second generation derivative of atarax, it is more potent than benadryl, lasts longer, and does not make you drowsy... Do not use generic.
Meanwhile Try to figure out what the allergen is, which could be something you've been allergic to for a long time, or something you are now just recently allergic to. Mine is sugar.

are you taking high dose vitamin B1? I got an allergic reaction (hives) when my dose was too high. I can only tolerate a low dose.
