Found a few favorable case reports , But no clinical study other than this abstract from Moscow:

europepmc.org/article/med/2...

"Hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) was used for the treatment of 64 patients suffering from parkinsonism of different etiology. HBO sessions were provided daily, 8-12 per course, the treatment pressure amounted to 1.3-2 atm exposure to 40-60 minutes. The beneficial effect was marked in 55 patients. The results of the treatment turned out better in vascular parkinsonism, in patients under 65 years, with a disease standing of 1-5 years. The akineticorigid syndrome regressed to a greater degree, whereas in trembling hyperkinesis, HBO turned out to be less potent."

Not likely to do any harm if a person can afford to give it a try. I would choose this over what passes for stem cell treatments currently.

Thanks Dave, only an n = 1 study but that he was able to decrease his meds is what caught my eye...

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Effect on “Kinesia Paradoxa” Brain Circuits 2022

link.springer.com/chapter/1...

This article aims to determine the effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) for treating symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. We present a brief review of the relevant literature and general information about HBOT. This paper describes evidence that HBOT has crucial effects to the three specific brain circuits possibly involved in “Kinesia Paradoxa” (noradrenergic system, basal ganglia, and the cerebellum circuit). Moreover, we are presenting clues supporting “Norepinephrine Hypothesis” according to which HBOT increases norepinephrine levels and restores motor deficits in Parkinson’s disease patients.

People who live in the UK, many of the regional MS therapy centres around the country provide HBOT therapy for a very low fee (not just for MS). Well worth looking into whether there is one in your area that also has HBOT (not all of them do) - Leeds does for example mstherapy.org.uk/mstherapy/

Thank you; most helpful.

Such a coincidence- I have been researching HBOT for PD as of late, and I am seriously considering doing it. I even visited the local HBOT facility. I will probably do it in the not so distant future.

Where are you located? In NYC these places are super expensive.

My sister did it in VT for a few sessions. Expensive there, too. Not approved for PD, so no insurance coverage. She stopped.

But did it help at all while she was doing it?

Maybe more energy but it’s hard to say. They recommended more visits before she would see more of an affect, but the time (she lives in a fairly remote area) and costs were a big deterrent.

But but but...I never smile. In all photos I'm grimacing. Even as a child I never smiled.

I tried this shortly after diagnosis and simultaneously pursued neurofeedback from the same facility. It required a significant dedication in time and money. At the time I had a non dominant tremor in my left hand. During the course of the treatments I felt some fast twitch muscles in my legs reacting. Eventually, and after treatment the tremor moved to my left leg. No improvement in left hand tremor. Deterioration in high gamma (if I am remembering correctly) frequency in brain. I was severely stressed because my wife filed for divorce as my tremor progressed. There may have been some relief from brain fog but honestly there was so much overwhelm at the time that it’s hard to say if the HBOT or the roller coaster of stress was the force seeming to improve that. There are some rodent studies which suggest promise in the therapy. I will probably spend the time on a treadmill and not go back.
