Increased dose of vitamin C

My wife came across this video about a week ago: lizearlewellbeing.com/podca...

I gave it a go (Sodium Ascorbate /15grams every hour / 8 times a day+ Altrient C - Liposomal Vitamin C, 1000mg/ 3 sachets per day).

It felt really good!

Side effect :) kicked in almost immidiately and I didn't mind spending lots of time in toilet:)

Now, my stomach got used to this supplement and I'm planning to increase the dose.

Also, it appears that humans (and some apes, rodents and bats "lost" ability to produce own vitamin C:

Has anyone tried it in high dose for a long period of time?

my husband tried high dose vitamin C for his constipation on the advice of park_bear. My husband had spent 10 days in hospital while a specialist tried everything to solve this problem with very limited results and lots of drugs. His constipation was solved immediately on the Vitamin C.

The other side effect was that it solved his blood pressure problems. He had low blood pressure in the morning and high in the late afternoon and evening. Our GP. said “he’s now got the blood pressure of a 20 year old” 120/80.

are you using it in "high doses" since then?

My husband passed away recently and suddenly, unrelated to PD. I’m not sure I’d be taking that much if you are spending too much time on the toilet. That’s not natural and could cause other problems . I’ve now got my closest friend with PD. 🥲

Good luck,

Gwendoline

You only need exra vitamin C to deal ith a high carb diet. When you think back to thdays when they discoverd that citrus fruits would stop sailors from getting scurvy, just think of thrir diets, rusks and gruel, almost pure carbohydrate.

Scurvy is not solely caused by a high carb diet. It is primarily caused by a lack of vitamin C in the diet, regardless of the macronutrient composition.

How do you explain that people can live quite happily on a pure carnivore diet which contains very little vitamin C?

Bear1927 profile image

actually, you will be getting a lot of "vitamin" C on meat diet, since most of mamals produce their own "vitamin" C.

A carnivore diet is a different discussion when it comes to vitamin C. Not my choice, but living happily on a pure carnivore diet with minimal vitamin C intake is indeed possible, thanks to the body's remarkable ability to adapt and utilize nutrients efficiently.

Hey Bear,

Are you seeing other benefits besides better motility? Are you still taking the licheniformis probiotic? High dose C may in the long term lead to liver or other organ damage due to iron overload.

Personally I would like to be OMAD carnivore but my gut health won't let me. I have been taking ACV and salty water with SBO probiotics but that wasn't enough . I am going to try high dose berberine, star anise and liqorice per a NY gastroenterologist . Will report back

Hi PDKiwi

Yes, I continue with Bacilius Licheniformis and it blends well with high doses of Sodium Ascorbate.

Non-motor8 improvements are better sleep and positive mood.

Please send me links to articles regarding side effects of vitamin C (organ damage) as I really struggled to find any.

This link is interesting: youtu.be/QXjrl5PKNgE?si=4V9...

Eating once a day sounds a little bit over the top to me.

Berberine is a good choice, just monitor heart rate.

Hemochromatosis is caused by excess iron, as I recall.

OMAD encourages autophagy, resetting the body. I know a man who is visiting us shortly who totally eliminated all PD symptoms by embarking on a 62 day fast, consuming only water and electrolytes. He was grossly overweight to start with . At a BMI of 22 I'd be dead but find two meals a day I beneficial..

That's a very high dose. I have been of the belief that the body cannot absorb that much vitamin C orally. Maybe through IV.

What is your goal in increasing the dose?

Bear1927 profile image
Bear1927 in reply toZardoz

We call it high dose because men in fancy uniform told us so. According to medical facts there is no limit on oral Sodium Ascorbate. The goal - I want to CURE my condition
