Innocent enough. What’s anyone going to do with that? Thought you were private eh. No worries.

Hello, could you please share the names, the dosages and the reasons behind your current selection ?

There is a long list1. Taurine

2. Glutathione

3. NAC

4. Vitamin E

5. Vitamin C

6. Vinpocetine

7. Omega 3

8. Zinc

9. Lithium rotate

10. Vitamin B12

11. Vitamin B1

12. Coq10

13. Cat's claw

14. Ashwagandha

15. Bacopa

16. Tribulus extract

17. Magnesium

18. Homeopathic medicine

I have listed down based on my memory and certainly some items may have been skipped. Over the period of time I fed up of taking too much supplements and narrowed down my list. I have noted that the most helpful supplement for PD is high dose of coq10. And the most lethal is pyridoxine (vitamin B6) if one gets toxic due to overdose. One should test for B6 once every six months.

Nowadays I take only following

1. Coq10

2. B12

3. Tribulus extract

4. Ashwagandha

Bacopa is not available in my country otherwise it's also my favourite herb.

Never heard of Bacopa or Tribulus. What are they and what are they for?

Farooqji profile image

Bacopa is the best herb for stress, anxiety and memory. Tribulus strengthens muscles and enhance libido and erection (it's also called herbal Viagra)

So I'm guessing tribulus is not ideal for women in menopause?

How much do you take and at what times?

Farooqji profile image
Farooqji in reply to JayPwP

It depends on the strength of the extract. I normally take double the recommended amount on the label for initial 1 month and the recommended amount onwards as maintenance dose

Farooqji, thanks for sharing the details, much appreciated, may I ask you please what is a 'high dose' of CoQ10 ?

I believe it was Jim Caster a while back who suggested putting meds/supplements/ treatments etc in your profile for others to see. If someone asks, all you have to do is point them to your profile. I did, but I’ve not been diligent about refreshing it. Nevertheless, it was a good suggestion. It would be good to know dose, what symptom it’s targeting and whether it’s been effective. For that, I have a spread sheet and update it when someone asks for it. All the best to you. I believe I replied to someone in a previous post and included the spreadsheet Frank Church, PhD (former professor of UNC Medical School) put together for all the supplements he takes for PD and the logic behind each. If anyone is interested, please send me a private message and I’ll send you the format. Best, Z.

Why don't you just put it up here?

gomelgo profile image

I imagine the supplement lists change quite often for most folks. That would be another thing to keep up with.

Does he also take sinemet, or just the mucuna?

Thank you everybody for putting up your information. As far as those people who are concerned that what they put up might change in quantity etc over time, at least there is an addressable library here that will be available for all time for people who can then do their own research. So for anyone worried about putting up what they have and the doses, they need not be concerned on account of those changing at some point. What people need and will value is the items themselves and then they can determine for themselves and do their own research as well from that starting point. But an addressable library is very important to have as a starting point, and there is zero harm in putting that up so everyone is encouraged to do so with comments on what it is about their regime that does work and how in their mind. You are not going to have any responsibility for them in any case.

Now if you happen to be worried about your own personal privacy, that is a separate matter. Remember here you have privacy, and that privacy is encouraged by the policy of hu if you happen to look at it...unless you actually affirmatively choose to expose your personal and identifiable information in some great detail and unless you're doing something grotesquely illegal I doubt that anybody is going to care and I doubt that it's going to matter to you and your life. Anybody reading you is solely responsible for their own life, you can't just lift that off of somebody if that is what you were imagining. But you have the privacy if you want it and that's the way this website is set up. To our dismay I'm sure, most of us are not all that important or interesting anyway in that sense, not near as much as we suppose. Present company excepted of course.
