Hello folks, Does anybody have much knowledge or feelings about ibogaine?
What about Ibogaine? : Hello folks, Does... - Cure Parkinson's
What about Ibogaine?
I have tried it, the lightest version that was available. There was definitely an improvement (feel good factor, less medication, less dyskinesia and no freezing) but the influence this substance had on my heart beat was kind of high concern for me. I would start it from lowest dose possible.
Ibogaine has been reported to be effective in reducing PD symptoms by several people who post here (including myself). But itts legal status, cost, and difficulty in obtaining a standardized product makes it very hard to experiment with.
If you look you will find numerous posts and links that will answer your question.
Interesting ... this is the substance that is used to cured substance abuse, no?
Yes, it's got a couple of fields interested in it.
There is a bit of good news in the study of potency. It is that is apparent in the study that there is someone in Hawaii who knows what they are doing with ibogaine extraction. If I were there I would be actively seeking them out. Given that ibogaine is a Schedule 1 drug it would take some doing to find them. Schedule 1 means that the DEA has determined there is no medicinal value of the drug and it is used for recreational purposes only. The DEA claims ibogaine is only used for recreation and refuses to reschedule it. These are the same geniuses who persist in claiming cannabis has no medicinal value. From what I have read ibogaine has NO recreational value as the psychoactive effect is is an intense introspection which is frequently unpleasant.
The likely usage in Hawaii is treatment for opiate (and possibly alcohol) addiction and spiritual growth. I would look for alternative addiction treatment providers in the indigenous community. As for spiritual growth I would look for ayahuasca groups as a place to start. If you go looking don't be narky. If you find anything I would be most grateful if you informed me.

This is an edited version of a post I made a few minutes ago. I corrected the link in the post as well as some text. The corrected link tqkes 15 or 20 seconds to load and will take you to a redirection which is a useful study of potency of various samples of substances that contain ibogaine that contain ibogaine. The study illustrates the problem of not being able to obtain standardized product very well. In this study the worst performer was the root bark samples. Potency of the root bark samples ranged from 0.06% to 11.2%. A completely unacceptable range. The reported ranges for TA and HCL were much better with the HCL having the lowest range.
Here is the link: scielo.br/j/rpc/a/47C7mb4VG...
"The content of ibogaine was highly variable, ranging from 0.6% to 11.2% for products sold as iboga root bark, from 8.2% to 32.9% for products sold as TA, 73.7% for one sample sold as PTA and from 61.5% to 73.4% for products sold as ibogaine HCl. One sample did not show any iboga alkaloids. Other alkaloids and unknown substances were found in almost all samples."
Many thanks to KatQ for finding this useful paper and sharing it.
Ibogaine definitely does something which improves the PD symptoms. I had used it long ago and I was feeling 100% normal (I hadn't started levodopa at that time) without any other medication. I even forgot that I have PD. There is something in it. However its super expensive and importing it from South africa is very cumbersome. It goes through the custom clearance crew. They confiscate it if not aligned before hand
