C/L immediate or controlled release?

I've been using Rytary first morning dose, then C/l CR plus some IR rest of day, and I'm having the issue that if I'm not very careful, and accept a fair amount of OFF time in the afternoon and evening, I get severe sleep interference (little to no sleep, even with sleep meds on board, and I know they're not good, supposed to be tapering). I'm wondering when and why some of you switched back to only immediate release, and how that helped?

How do you get enough exercise and food, with the short intervals?

Also, do you do your regular exercise routine, even is minimal or no sleep?

Thanks...

you should read instructions that the pharmacy gives with the Rytary. Specifically read the section explaining taking the Rytary with other C/L dopa medications. Also read about the equivalency rate to better understand the overall intake of c/l dopa

As far as sleep make sure you have enough B6/B12. It is always a good idea to discuss this issue with your neurologist

Thanks fir suggestions...My neurologist knows what my issues have been...I understand the equivalency. I have to be careful about sleep, it was already an issue pre PD. Rytary made it worse. I get plenty of b12 and I get b6, not sure if enough but I do supplement. Sleep for me is much more complicated than that. Unfortunately. MDS refers me back to psych NP, who got me sleeping, but with a stack of sleep meds (big mistake) that I'm now supposed to taper. It's rough.

Rytary didn't work for me. It felt like I was unmedicated when taking it, and it all released at night. I'm back to IR cl/ld.

Does food interfere with IR for you? How do you get enough exercise and food in the intervals?

Yes, I can only tolerate Rytary as first dose. If I take afternoon and evening, I can't sleep much, and I get obsessive, can't stop whatever I'm focused on. That's happening more now with C/L ER and IR. so I guess it's not just Rytary. Ugh.

I'm eight years post diagnosis and 49 years old. Food doesn't interfere with the medication for me. I take a teaspoon of psyllium three times a day to make sure my digestive track is frictionless as possible. I also break my 100/25 pills in half for more even dosage. Anecdotal I know, but it works for me

I just got switched over to Rytary 3 times a day and I use one dose of C/L ER as the last dose of the day. Before the med rearrangement (I was on C/L IR 5X/day) I was having a tough time sleeping, too. I'd wake up after 2-3 hours of sleep and was unable to get back to sleep again. Miserable! I also take one Lyrica at bedtime. Sleeping and functioning well now! Slept 9 hours last night! WHOO HOO!! I pray your MDS can find a combination that will work better for you, too!

I take magnesium and calcium to help with sleep.
