Goodbye Parkie-, We are Thinking About You and Wishing You Well
The Peace of Wild Things by Wendell Barry
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
…be free of pain and at peace, Parkie. Your light will always shine.
praying 😢
Sometimes, there are no words.
I salute your bravery Parkie
and praying !
Detach yourself from this earth and fly as high as you can.
May your soul merge with the Almighty... Rest in peace and love...
Has he passed away? What happened? Sorry I missed the news, haven't been regular here lately
I guess this means she went forward with IT???
I pray not!!!!!!
Why would you wish more extreme suffering on someone?
You had FUSS. How are you doing, happy with the results? Thanks, Trixiedee.
I'm OK but symptoms on my untreated side are bad. Treated side is symptom free but my ankle is very unstable after 20 years of dystonia.
RIP Parkie, you are a brave soul…..
RIP
I hope you feel relief and freedom. Peace my fellow Parkie.
So very sad😢
thinking of you with love , Rest in Peace
Rest in peace, Parkie! May your memory be a blessing.
Thank you Parkie for being a light on our path. May you rest in peace, with freedom from suffering.
Such an inspiration ... may the next time around bring joy and peace upon your soul.
AMEN
Parkie, I hope you’re enjoying your new pain free life. 👼 🪽
Rest in peace, Parkie.
Having just seen this now, I have missed the chance to say goodbye. Yet, Parkie's family was surely involved in her decision and would presumably have approved her very personal choice to end her suffering. .... condolences to them....
Parkie explained her rationale and her suffering in her goodbye message which was linked above by MB Anderson.
I know of at least two families who have likewise used the M.A.I.D. process in Canada to end their loved ones' suffering, although neither had Parkinson's. In both cases, it was a thoroughly deliberated process and both families understood that the suffering was too great to continue. Most of all, they understood that it was their loved one's sincere desire, and they respected that wish, despite the momentous loss.
The M.A.I.D. concept is not regarded as controversial or scandalous in Canada like it is down here in the USA:
justice.gc.ca/eng/cj-jp/ad-...
And
justice.gc.ca/fra/jp-cj/am-...
This procedure is not even available in the US state where I reside and would be politically impossible here.
REST IN PEACE.
It was her choice, and only her choice. Her pain was evaluated by specialist M.A.I.D. doctors and nurses who agreed . Only God can stand in judgment and he is a lot more merciful than some would contend. I have seen more than a few people die and been helpless to stop their pain , cancer patients suffering from treatment as much as from the disease.
I see many people here talking about how they don't take medicines prescribed and that all you have to do is exercise and take some vitamin. They have absolutely no idea what could be ahead or the way things are and live instead in Fantasy Land. It is time for some to grow up and stop the denial. She probably wanted to live as much as any one, but it was not possible . When the time comes you will know.
sorry if I rained on your parade , prepare and enjoy It is later than you think. life at its longest is short and makes little sense in its brevity. A longer life is of no value if it has to include unreasonable pain.
May she rest in peace
I wish I had her courage, she will be sorely missed.
