The Phenomenal Benefits of Walking 10,000 Steps Every Day
This is mostly what we do daily sometimes exceeding this amount but not often. It’s the only form of exercise we ve found that doesn’t make chronic backache worse, but improves it! Knee replacements like it too!
what am i doing wrong? it makes my back stiffen up and is uncomfortable to walk. my bra strap across my back seems like it is making the stiffness worse.
Probably nothing. Just goes to show that walking doesn’t suit everyone. It’s the one thing we can both do. It doesn’t require getting changed like swimming or similar, which puts him off, especially in the winter.
My husband with PD finds some days walking tough and others not so bad. He has a Cue1 which has definitely helped with pace and gait.
can't get it to open. has a pop up that asks me to accept but when I click on accept, nothing happens
Same here. Can't get it to open. But I do a LOT of walking since I live in NYC. Some days I don't wuite make it to 10k steps, but those are rare. Most days I get up to 15 or even 17k. I definitely think it's keeping some symptoms at bay. And it's the only time my leg doesn't tremor.
Walking with PD can be very challenging for some with PD. I have seen my PD friends with kyphotic (rolled forward shoulders/head forward) backs have horrible pain (as one poster said bra-strap pain), shoulder blade level pain as well as low back pain. I know this sounds completely off the wall but I have seen great results keeping hamstrings flexible. Stretch your hamstrings, roll out the soles of your feet with a tennis or lacrosse ball, but be gentle at first!
” I walk Five Miles every day!”
“Wow! Cute dog you got there. What’s his name?”
“Five Miles”
Next day….
“I ran over Five Miles today “
“Wow, really?”
“Yeah I’m sure going to miss that dog”
Is 2,000 metres on exercise bike a day equivalent?
