As Chester Riley used to say...
When the stuff goes on sale at Walgreens, I'll give it a try.
I thank you for the explanation.
Art, Can they be bought or do they have to be & can they be prescribed?
Hi Marc,
They can be bought as the FDA has apparently approved the Vowst pill, but they are only approved for C.diff as far as I know and they are expensive at $17,500. Okay, I'll just go ahead and say it... that's some ridiculously expensive s**t! The following link gives a bit more information on it, but basically it doesn't seem like they want the general public to have access given the amount of restrictions they have put on it :
vowst.com/sites/default/fil...
americaspharmacy.com/drug/v...
My impression is that if you really want it in the US for other than C.diff, you're going to have to get it outside of the US in such a place as China. China seems to be the most progressive when it comes to FMT for other uses than C.diff or IBS. Lastly would be to look for an upcoming FMT study that you can qualify for. The US seems to have gone to great lengths to strictly limit FMT to severe C. diff that has been treated with antibiotics. Given the current safety profile of properly screened donors and donations, it is hard to comprehend why the FDA keeps it on such tight lockdown, but they do and I think major pharmaceutical companies love the FDA for doing so.
I think if I had AD or PD, I would absolutely want it, but in the US, that seems impossible.

Thanks Art.
Seems as tho we wait a few more years. Something we do a lot of.
Honestly, Marc,
I don't think we will see it here in the US in our lifetime for other than C.Diff and severe IBS, but that's just the pessimist in me being a maximum pessimist. Even the single US study for FMT/PD seemed like a half effort at best.
The guy heading the Helsinki PD/FMT ( Dr. Scheperjans) study which has already completed said they hoped to release the results this fall, but that only leaves 3 more days until winter begins.
This was my first email to him on August 9, 2023 :
' Dear Dr. Scheperjans,
I was wondering when the results from the following study will be available and where I would be able to read it?
Study :
ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT04854291
Thank You!
This was an automated reply to my email :
' Hi,
thank you for your mail.
I will be on on vacation until 10.8. Please kindly consider resending your mail if I have not answered it within one week after my return.
Thank you for your understanding!
Best regards,
Filip Scheperjans
This was his actual reply on August 18, 2023 :
" Dear Art, I hope that we can publish this fall. BR Filip "
This was my reply to that :
' Thank you, Dr. Scheperjans, I look forward to those results! '
