SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / ACCESSWIRE / November 20, 2023 / Korea's leading adult stem cell research institute, Biostar Stem Cell Research Institute (Director: Dr. Jeongchan Ra), announced on the 20th that a regenerative medicine technology that treats Parkinson's disease by administering autologous fat-derived stem cells cultured using patented technology into the intravenous and spinal cord cavity has been approved by the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare and will begin treatment at the Shinjuku Clinic in Tokyo in December.

"The approved stem cell treatment protocol involves administering 150 to 250 million fat-derived stem cells intravenously and 50 million cells into the spinal cord cavity five times at intervals of two to four weeks. The stem cells are either obtained from the Biostar Stem Cell Research Institute in Korea or from JASC, a Japanese affiliate."

Very interesting. Worth investigating further.

Any idea about the total cost of treatment?

Good Morning,

I inquired about this in September 2023, and they stated that a patient needs to receive 10 treatments over a period of 5 months (one treatment every 2 weeks).

The cost would be $15,000 USD every treatment totalling $150,000 USD after 10 treatments.

Below is the reply that I received.

1. Discovery Package 200 million cells USD15,000 - Banking 5 years - Clinic fee waiver 1 time.

2. Wellness Package 1,000 million cells USD60,000 - Banking 10 years - Clinic fee waiver 3 times.

Adding Cells 100 million cells USD7,000 Banking Only USD10,000 - Period: Lifetime

The above amount does not include fat extraction costs. Please pay separately at the collection clinic.

Administration Location in Japan

The 2nd Nishihara Clinic Osaka 8 Chome-5-10, Noma, Itami-city, Hyogo - I.V.: JPY30,000

- Joint: JPY35,000 (Cash only), or

Trinity Clinic Fukuoka Fukuoka 6-14-22 Matsushima, Higashi-gu, Fukuoka.

They do not provide any further information.

If this treatment is above board, then 10 treatments should show benefits over and above any other clinics who are offering stem cell treatment. Reason being multiple studies have shown that continued treatment in a 12 month period has better sustained improvements with neuroloigcal disorders.

Best Wishes,

150000 USD + extraction cost + travel, lodging and food costs

Impossible to meet the expenses even if I sell my entire body parts

What exactly is this treatment supposed to achieve? It's lovely to be able to buy it, but what benefits should I expect?

Maybe Japanese government cares for their citizens more than others...

I don't mind Japanese government taking a bold risk for their ailing citizens.

Here’s the result of their Alzheimer’s trial:

clinicaltrials.gov/study/NC...

It was very small , so I don’t know what to make of it, but it seems like participants on the drug experienced slightly more decline than those on placebo.

This is a stem cell therapy

LeharLover62 profile image

Yes, that’s my concern. The same company did the stem cell procedure with a few people who had Alzheimer’s several years ago as a trial and the results don’t look that great. I’d definitely like to know why they think it now works for Pd before investing in the treatment.

That is a question worth asking

Sounds promising

This stem cell therapy uses (adipose) fat cell derived stem cells injected intravenously into the bloodstream and spinal chord. This treatment is also being offered in Mexico with somewhat discouraging results. This stem cell method is not nearly as effective as using mesenchymal or pluripotent stem cells injected directly into the brain. So be careful what you pay for everyone.

Even if it only hats the disease

Where is this coming from?

How many patients have tried it?

What are the results?

There is a trial done at mayo that is doing the same procedure in patients with multiple system atrophy. They are doing the same procedure as in adipose derived stem cells, injected intrathecally. The interval was 6 months in the last trial and they were able to stop progression over the course of 12 months, which is incredible for msa. Difficult to say whether this does the same for parkinson but given they are both synucleinopathies... Could be
