Max dose of c/l
Welcome HawthornNightWatch to HU! Difficult to answer your question without having some more background information from you. Perhaps you can give details about your situation so that we can possibly give a more specific advice. Perhaps you are afraid that you will be prescribed too high a dose by a doctor? Whether this is indeed justified depends a lot on your individual factors. 🍀
I agree with Esperanto, welcome Hawthorn. All depends. My husband takes a total every day of C/L of approx 2100 mg of Levodopa. That's spread throughout 4 doses per day. That keeps his symptoms pretty well controlled. He has DBS also. His neuro says he is pretty high dose, but not as high as some people get to. His body usually tells him with Dyskinesia if he has taken an extra 1/2 pill or pill too much. Keep in mind that with the 25/100 you get 100mg Levodopa, but on the 50/200 you only get 168mg of Levodopa... That is our understanding. Hope that helps.
I don't understand why 50/200 would be only 169mg Levodopa. I Googled it and says Carbidopa 50mg/Levodopa 200mg.....
Hi Gcf51 - You will definitely find a million articles on Google on 50/200 mg Sinemet CR. I don't understand the whys and wherefores of it, only that it works well. Our understanding from our Neurologist is that it's less than the 200mg - and it's to do with Bioavailability. I have asked her to clarify it to me again, and when I hear back, I will re-post what she says.
I think that nine per day is the recommended maximum
