Tremor medication

I was diagnosed with PD around two and half years ago. My main symptom is right hand tremors. The tremors are action, postural and resting. My neurologist told me that your right side is slower. At this point only bothering symptoms is the tremors. I don't feel slowness. May be it is in early stage. My neurologist tried Amantidine, levedopa/ caridopa upto 200/50 three times. But it didn't work. My family doctor gave me propananol and it was helping at least 50 to 60%. But as tremor are progressing, it is helping less. My neurologist prescribed me trihexyphenidyl hcl but that is not working either. I am waiting for movement disorder specialist appointment over a year. I work in software development. So tremors sometimes impact my ability to type. Just wondering what everyone is taking for tremors other than above described medication? Please share what works for you?

Astro,

When I was getting diagnosed 3 years ago response to propananol vs Levidopa was the test my general neuro did to distinguish between PD and essential tremors. If you have no response to C/L perhaps you do not have typical PD. Can you convince your GP or Neuro to do a Syn-One test? cndlifesciences.com/syn-one...?

Incidentally changing my keyboard repeat rate was critical for my typing.

Thanks for sharing. My neurologist is pretty confident that it is PD. He referred me to movement disorder specialist. I am in Canada and there is a long waitlist to get the MDS appointment.

Do yourself a favour and start doing FAST WALKING, EVERY SECOND DAY, FOR A MAXIMUM OF ONE HOUR! It works. I started with PD o=in 1992 and have not had any signs of PD so=ince 1994, when I started to do the fast wallking.

Hi,

Wow, those are big meds. They put my mother in law on trihex, she became delusional within days, old drug, not recommended for the elderly apparently.

After years of taking a multitude of meds my husband tried nicotine gum, just one gum per day to combat terrible fatigue. Amazingly it helped with concentration, brain fog, fatigue and it calmed his tremor. This really amazed me because most stimulants make tremor worse and downers quiet tremor but put you to sleep.
