Tremor device
"Called the Cala kIQ System, the wearable device is the first to be cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help relieve action tremor — that is, tremor that occurs when a person makes an intentional movement — in Parkinson’s patients, according to Cala."
Parkinson's characterized by resting tremor.
thank you for the great post! i took a quick look at their website:
As you can see from the image i posted from their website... their "results" do not look very appealing... You have to be on it for 40 minutes to ONLY get about 94 minutes of relief? ... I'm not sure if you can wear this thing 24/7 ... i have to do more research
I'd love 94 minutes of respite! I have action, resting and postural tremors, but the most debilitating are the action tremors. It's getting harder and harder to shower, dress, hair and makeup. And cooking requires the help of my husband as I cannot measure ingredients, especially liquids, without shaking the contents all over the floor.
my apologies if my brief review of the value of this device didn't give it more credence...
i have only 'very very mild internal tremors' ... (plus other symptoms that are very minimal)
my heart goes out to you and everyone on this forum who are suffering ...
i don't want to get "political" ... but i will...
our gov't has given "Ukraine" over 100 ... billion ... dollars (while the European Union's contribution to their own defense is a pittance)
our government's total spending each year on PD research that would benefit one million suffering AMERICANS???
just 250 million
No need to apologize. My primary symptom is tremor, so I consider myself "lucky." I was diagnosed 7 years ago, but had symptoms at least 15 years prior to diagnosis. I'm on no meds presently. It's amazing how different everyone experiences Parkinsons with such a diverse set of symptoms.
if it's not too personal, how long did it take before your tremors were 'visible'?
I never had internal tremors. I had action tremors occasionally when reaching for things as far back as 20 years ago. My resting tremor became noticeable about 7 years ago. At the time I had been taking Clonazepam for 8 years for anxiety. I do think that med covered up the tremors and tremors started showing when I started tapering off Clonazepam.
what is the point of not being on meds?
Side effects are not worth the benefits at this time.
