has anyone taking mucuna pruriens (powder) by banyan botanicals (no parkinson drugs) for tremors with good or bad results?
tremor: has anyone taking mucuna pruriens... - Cure Parkinson's
tremor
I am tremor dominant and take Mucuna I don't think it helps that much though have just started ginkgo biloba and that seems to be helping a bit
I also take mannitol which I found helped with movement and thiamine HCL which for me improve s energy level
I have taken Mucuna Pruriens EXTRACT for four years. It has been the answer for me. I tried just the beans all ground up--doesn't work. If you want something that works, it must be the EXTRACT. Search through these mosts on Mucuna and read all that has been written.
What brand do you buy?
I go here: (This MP is 100% pharmaceutical grade Mucuna and 100% pure with no fillers. God bless: nutrivitashop.com/l-dopa-10...
Hi SuperMNew. Thank you so much for the information. I have one more question for you. Do you get any kind of headache or any reaction right away when u take it? How long does the mucuna takes to put you ON? Thank you, hope you have a good day!
Hello there! I do not get a headache nor any kind of a reaction when I take MP. I always take it on an empty stomach; otherwise, it does not work for me. It takes between 30-45 minutes to take effect, and when it does, I get quite sleepy and can fall asleep and sleep deeply until the MP wears off. Then I take another dose and can then sleep another 4 hours or so. If I take too much, I do get sick at my stomach. So, MP is to be respected. When I first researched MP, all I could find was 15%. That did nothing for me--not even a buzz, so to speak. I kept looking until I found the potency that worked. No fillers. Just pure MP. I started MP four years ago, and I've had no problems from it. No augmentation. And it works for me every time. Blessings to you.
Hi there,
I have purchased this brand mucuna for my husband. He is not currently taking any other drugs but he is taking Thiamine B1HCL and mannitol. We are trying to establish a routine. He gets shaky/nauseous with the mp so we are starting out again with just 1/16 tsp. Is it necessary to then wait an hour before eating? And you mention getting sleepy. He wants to get going with his day; not get sleepy. So are you able to function and be alert when you are taking mp? Do you take any mao inhibitor as Ernie suggests?
Thanks for any tips.
I use Mucuna pruriens from nutrivita.com 100% extract which I've learned from this forum that it is just pure l-dopa from the Mucuna bean therefore you need an mao-inhiibitor to aid it in crossing the BBB (in other words getting from the stomach to the blood and brain). Lots of trial and error. Everyone is different. I've been using Mucuna since about Feb.2018. I take 1/8 teaspoon scoop of Mucuna and I'm on for about 3 hours, when I take it, and it completely stops the tremors. It takes about an hour to fully kick in for which I don't eat anything. But like I said you need an mao inhibitor and I recommend Tribulis terestris which is an herb that is simple to start with. I do have tremor dominant Parkinson's on my right side so when I'm off my right arm shakes uncontrollably. Sometimes in between doses I deal with the tremors because usually I do just two doses per day. In my trial and error period I took to much the first time and could sleep and was nauseous all day plus until I got the dose right I would get dyskinesia when the dose I took was too much and wearing off. But at the present time I seem to have under control. I do a concoction or in other words follow a self made protocol from bits and pieces that I've picked up mainly from here.
Hi, thank you for sharing. I have a question for you. How much tribulis terestris do you take with each dosis of mucuna? Is there anything you take to control stress?. I use the same brand of mucuna. I am taking it with coffee on empty stomach. Right when I take my mucuna dosis my tremor gets worse in the sense that is the same tremor I have without mucuna but faster. No abnormal movement. After one hour and a half until I am on. Once I am on my tremor is less and manageable. Any ideas why the mucuna takes longer for me to kick in? Do you think the faster shaking is dyskinesia? I tried a lower dosis and didnt do anything for me and I had this faster tremor even longer. I would say I am really stress out all the time, it is hard for me to copy with Parkinson. Any ideas what I am missing for the mucuna to work well for me? Thank you
Hi! sorry for asking so many questions. When u say that you are "on" with the mucuna for 3 hours, do you mean 3 hours "on" after the hour you have to wait until it fully kicks in? or 3 hours including the hour you have to wait for fully kick in? Thank you for helping me out , I really appreciated it.
I am sorry for asking so many questions. What brand of tribulis terestris do you recommend ? What amount are you taking?
Ameriherb.com in bulk powder. You must decide on best amount for you.
Hi again,
I just tried to find Tribulis terestris on Ameriherb but it comes up blank. I hadn't read anywhere else that one needed to take an mao inhibitor with mp. And when I look up other vendors for Tt, they don't mention that aspect. So is it really necessary?
Dyskinesia is not a tremor its muscle twisting. I take many different herbs in powder form and everyone is different but I would recommend you start with a small amount of Tribulis terestris the Mucuna and B1 in a very small amount of water. I wouldn't use coffee for the Mucuna.
I like Dr. Axe so here are his recommendations for stress. I use a few of this in my daily mix of herbs:

Hi Ernie,
You seem to be doing really well.
I have purchased the NutriVita brand mucuna for my husband. He is not currently taking any other drugs but he is taking Thiamine B1HCL and mannitol. We are trying to establish a routine. He gets shaky/nauseous with the mp so we are starting out again with just 1/16 tsp. Is it necessary to then wait an hour before eating? SuperMNew mentions getting sleepy. He wants to get going with his day; not get sleepy. So are you able to function and be alert when you are taking mp?
Right now my husband's symptoms are right-side tremor; totally illegible handwriting; some stooped posture, "heavy" leg. He's working out at least 5 days/week with both Rock Steady and regular Fight to Fitness boot camps. So I would normally mention greater fatigue but I think the workouts are pretty exhausting. I don't know whether it's the PD or just plain old exercise exhaustion.
How long does it take to notice results with mucuna? A day? a week? He's just taken it in the morning 4 times without noticing a difference. Is it better to take it a couple of times a day to try to keep dopamine in the system?
Thanks for any tips.
I take an 1/8 of a teaspoon with 2 grams of B1 and 1/8 teaspoon of magnesium mixed together in a little water and chase it with grape juice. I do this every 4 hours except the magnesium only twice cause it'll be to much. Sometimes I do less times a day and deal with the tremor which is my marked symptom. I also use herbs as you may know but I take breaks or 3-4 day vacations from the herbs and everything else still works. So yes the Mucuna should work within an hour after you get the right dosage. If you take too much gets you nauseas, it took me a little while to get it right. Not sleepy, the morning dose works best. Hope this helps. Where are you guys?
