Does anyone take more than 4 g per day of B1?

Does anyone take B1 and mucuna on a daily basis?

I take both mucuna and B1, but I generally take one gram of B1 per day.

What brand/potency of mucuna do you take? Do you take anything along with the mucuna to help with the blood brain barrier issue? Thanks for your comment.

I just realized that I was in a hurry when I responded to your question and forgot about the fact that I have recently and successfully (so far) increased to 2 grams of B1 per day. I've only been doing that for about two weeks though. I took 1 gram/day for so long that I just responded out of habit.

I take Rx'd carbidopa (a little less than 1/4 of a 25 mg tablet) with each dose of mucuna (Barlowe's Brown Indian 40% mucuna capsules or powder).

I am aware of one forum member who said they are taking 5500 mg of B1 per day. Dr. Costantini said that he used higher doses than 4000 mg/day in patients with other neurodegenerative diseases other than PD.

I am using Mucuna Now because it is manufactured in the US and I believe is a reliable brand. I am combining it with traditional c/l (Sinemet).

Hi Vt11! The best mucuna brands are Zandopa, from India ( Amazon) or Dopabeans. I suggest you to take the doses with green tea to create theCarbidopa effect. If not you can buy the carbidopa alone. I also suggest you to take 1200 mg /d acetyl cisteine ( start 600mg for 15 days, cthen 1200 mg ) .

I take 1000 mg B1 and take 25/100 c/l with my mucuna. You should try different brands at first to see which are consistent for you. Now & Source Naturels are two of mine.

Hi, I’ve just introduced the Now Mucuna brand for my HwP. He’s only just started 500mg B1 Hcl. Going well so far. He also uses Madopar 25/100mg 4 times a day. Out of interest how do you combined the Mucuna with the Sinemet?

eschneid in reply toGratefulHeart23

I combine 1 Sinemet with anywhere between 160 mg mucuna and 260 mg mucuna. The largest doses are after lunch/dinner as meals affect me most on the after-meal dose.

I bought some Zandopa several years ago, and it was sweetened with an artificial sweetener. I didn't really see any benefit from it (dose was probably too small), and I can't tolerate artificial sweeteners, so I discontinued it.
