Is this common knowledge?
"A study of military veterans has shown the strongest evidence yet that the widespread chemical trichloroethylene (TCE)—used in spot removers, office products and dry-cleaning—is linked to Parkinson’s disease."
There are a number of studies drawing the link. Also sounds like this chemical is in widespread use and dispersed across ground and air. So people may be also unwittingly breathing or drinking it.
There have been many studies on this topic over the years, but this was a recent analysis of the data. It also has additional prominence because of the book that came out a couple years ago, “Ending Parkinson’s“ with some top neurologists, as well as someone in leadership at the Michael J. Fox foundation. if you’re interested, Ray Dorsey, one of the authors of that book has been doing lectures on the topic, both in person, and via the web. If you search for his name, you’ll probably be able to see a recent program on this topic.
Trichloroethylene breaks down slowly in soil and is removed mostly through evaporation to air. Trichloroethylene in soil (and to some extent in groundwater) may evaporate and migrate into air spaces beneath buildings to enter the indoor air, a process termed vapor intrusion. atsdr.cdc.gov/sites/toxzine....
Association with this and a high number of other agricultural, industrial and environmental; chemicals and the onset of neurodegenerative disorders has been known for decades.
Fortunately someone has managed to make it "news".
