Hi All, Has anyone tried using the infrared sauna to improve the symptoms of Parkinson?
Infrared Sauna and Parkinson: Hi All, Has... - Cure Parkinson's
Infrared Sauna and Parkinson
I bought one for myself... but no one has noticed any changes in the Parkinson's symptoms...
I used an infrared sauna daily for about 6 months as part of a mold detoxification process. During that time I didn't notice any changes in my PD symptoms.
What else did you do for mold detoxification?I worked in a school that was closed for black mold. I have afar dry infrared sauna. Appreciate your help! Thanks in advance. What tests did you use to determine mold toxicity?
I had a mold test done by Great Plains Labs, you can order one online. The test results showed very high levels of Gliotoxin. To detox, my functional medicine doctor had me do a daily sauna as well as take charcoal and bentonite clay. A retest after six months showed my Gliotoxin to be zero, so my doc clearly knew what she was doing.
Did you feel better after detox?
It might depend on the wavelengths of light. I have a far infrared sauna which relaxes my back but does not change PD symptoms.
does the infrared sauna, make you feel better in any way? Would it be the same benifet provided by any kind of sauna ? I have a small ceder shed in the back yard that would be dead easy to convert. I think I would like a humid sauna instead of dry heat. Are there any problems with saunas and PD. Sorry if I stole your post. We are still talking saunas though.
Hi Gymsack, I am jealous, I would love my personal sauna on my property. I would build out a dry sauna in a heartbeat in your situation. Before choosing dry/wet/infrared I'd read up on the health benefits of each (Rhonda Patrick on youtube is a great place to start).
If it were me, I'd build a dry sauna and dedicate 30 mins a day for the rest of my life - I believe the benefits to your quality of life will outweigh the expense and time
As to your question - any problems with PD via sauna, I've not read or seen any, but maybe try out a sauna several times before committing to building your own.
Yes! I have a home infrared sauna. I have a large one with glass walls so i enjoyably watch a movie while I sweat for 90 minutes or more. If you've read the research, a sauna is supposed to activate/ stimulate "heat shock proteins" in our brains. 'Sauna" is only one of over 40-50 supplements/ devices/ gadgets/ and other therapies that I use so I have no clue as to if 'any' of them are helping me. Officially I am NOT dx'd because the neuro/MDS I saw things (in so many words) that I'm nuts... "OCD" is what his report said. It's too long to go into the details now... but I have PD and and I have a terrible doc, too.
I love love love the sauna (a couple of times a week) and a FREEEEEEEZING cold shower after the sauna is the most STIMULATING thing (well... almost, lol)!
I use an infrared sauna blanket- don’t know if it improves my PD symptoms but it improves my mood, sense of well being etc - I love it
could you please tell what is the brand of your infrared sauna blanket and provide a link if possible. Thank you

Hubbies Movement Disorder specialist has one we can use at his practice. Here’s a blurb from the info he provided us:
“Since getting outside and exercising intensely and regularly is difficult, consider regular use of a far-infrared (FIR) sauna which emulates daytime infrared sun exposure and provides many benefits similar to moderate to intense exercise: Start supervised far-infrared (FIR) saunatherapy at least 3-5 times a week, 30-60 minutes per session as tolerated, as an anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and immune boosting modality. Regular sauna usage lowers blood pressure and improves: multiple anabolic hormones and growth factors; cardiovascular health; restorative sleep; as well as cognitive, behavioral and physical function. “
