Infrared Bucket-Hat

I'm beginning to more fully appreciate that what works for one PwP may very well not work for me and what works for me may not work for you. That said, I'm willing to try just about anything which MIGHT work and probably won't hurt. I contacted both the Australian doctor for Mr. Burr, who is featured in this video, and Vielight from Canada. Vielight is much more expensive and I really liked the Australian doctor....so I'll soon be wearing an infrared hat from Australia. They are on back order so it may be awhile, but I'll update you several months after I have tried this. I'm early in the game and maybe easier to "fix." I'm also a realist. I don't expect much, but I have wasted money on far more foolish things. 😊

Hi Jim,

After viewing your profile and what you were on that was working for you I wanted to tell you to add red light therapy. My husband is on Vielight gamma and a redlight panel dpl11a (660 nm and 880 nvm) that I used for my 16 year old cat with chronic kidney disease miraculously transformed him. The helmet by dr Hamilton covers the whole head and will not miss any points I reckon.

So glad you made the decision yourself.

All the best

Thanks! How long has your husband used it? Any results?

The thing about red light therapy is that it takes time to regenerate the neurons. Remember our brain is capable of neuroplasticity. My husband has been using the Vielight gamma for 5 months- the baseline was waking up 6-8 times a night to pee and loss of smell. After 12 weeks it was reduced to 3-4 times and after 16 weeks nose was more sensitive to smells though could not identify it. This was before he started on mannitol. He is calmer, less agitated and fault finding. His dysphagia is less and he does not cough violently or choke over his saliva as much - I do not know if this part is due to the B1 and mannitol.

I feel that having your whole head bathed in redlight is beneficial.

I discovered red light therapy by chance. I bought a redlight panel made of 600 series and 800 series diodes. I wanted to use it for my skin. My 16 year old cat was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease October 2017. Ultrasound revealed severe damage to his kidneys. By October 2018, he was on daily sub cut and had not eaten independently for a year. He needed to be fed with a milk bottle twice a day. I came across an article which said that redlight therapy was specifically beneficial to cats with kidney disease. I placed the red light panel on his back where his kidneys were starting with 3x a week for first week for 10 mins and then mon- fri . At the end of 2 weeks my cat that had not eaten independently for a year ate his first meal. He is still on the red light therapy eats one meal and is fed one to ensure he gets enough. His energy levels and alertness are amazing and he has been resurrected.

If all these things can reverse the symptoms and prevent deterioration I say I am a believer. All of us have cells and redlight heals. We have to be observant of the changes. If you ask my husband he will tell you he sees no difference - except for the night visits that has reduced by half. But as an independent observer I can see the change

I have vielight and have been using it for over nine months

and yes it has some benefits as I can smell now

where did you order the other one from

Millbrook profile image
Millbrook in reply tohanifag

I ordered it from amazon for $271 and then the price kept going up. Subsequently I discovered you can get it cheaper on eBay if you keep a lookout. It seems that someone who had traumatic brain injury (tbi) emailed Michael Hamblin (authority on red light therapy )and he directed them to this

I bought it for my vanity but my cat n husband now benefit from red light therapy.

To all who are considering red light therapy, please note that Vielight gamma pulses at 40 hz whereas others do not pulse. I only wish it covered a larger area of the head

Sounds weird, but I'd like to hear more about your cat. I do volunteer work at a no-kill cat shelter and we have a number of cats that can't be adopted out because of chronic health problems, including kidney disease.

Hi. To cut the long story short I use this redlight panel with 262 diodes made of 630 nm, 680 and 880 nm. It’s called revive dpl11a from LED technologies . You can purchase on eBay for $250-270. I googled anatomy of cat to see where kidneys are located. I place the panel on top of his spine between his front and back legs. He is a grey cat and his fur and dark colour reduces absorption of the red light by 25 %. So it’s by trial and error. It’s a miracle really that 10 minutes did so much for him. His daily sub was reduced to 3x a week . He has more energy, he is alert and engages you and is totally different from before.

It’s because of the dramatic change in him that my husband agreed to use the Vielight. I would love to have a bigger one that covers the whole head

Thanks for posting this. What's interesting to me is that while of course the kidneys are important for filtering the blood and maintaining electrolyte balance, they also do something else - they make klotho. Klotho is also made in the brain and is important for cognitive function. Klotho is a big molecule and can't cross the BBB, BUT low serum klotho levels are associated with disease severity in multiple system atrophy (MSA):

The brain-kidney-klotho connection is both puzzling & intriguing. More on this from the perspective of Alzheimer's Disease:

I know that CoQ10 isn't supposed to be all that helpful for PD (and it really bothers me that we don't know why), but.... I did run across a study that found LLLT and CoQ10 supplementation can act synergistically for treatment of neuropathy (in rats):

Pls excuse my ignorance, but are we talking infrared or red light therapy... or this is same thing..?

jimcaster profile image
jimcaster

At least from my perspective, it's infrared. Among many others, Dr. Norman Doidge seems to believe it has good potential. That's good enough for me. 😊

Great article Jim. I think that for deeper penetration it’s important to have lights in the 800 range. The panel I used on my cat has 880 nm.

Thanks. I have now read posts originated by Jeeves and others are not very encouraging, but what does not work for some people can work for others so who knows?

I’d really appreciate it Jim if you could also let me know how to contact the Australian doctor.

I sent you a private message. I'm still debating between the Australian made coronet and the Canadian made Vielight. I heard an interview of the Vielight CEO which intrigued me.

Hi jimcaster.

Do I understand correctly that Max Blurr builds and sells bucket light helmets?

If so, can you provide a link to order?

Thank you
