Good day ladies & gentlemen, I was diagnosed with PD last Oct. and in Nov. I started Sinemet 100/25 and within 2 weeks started feeling some improvement. However I wasn't able to tolerate the nausea / dizziness and was in bed all day. Finally in Dec, my neurologist changed me to Sifrol 0.18: 3 tablets per day which I could tolerate. By the end of Dec, I had zero improvements & my symptoms remained exactly the same. In Jan, the neuro asked me to double the dose to 6 tablets a day taken at 9:00 am, 2:30 pm and 8:00 pm. By the 3rd week, almost 90% of my symptoms were under control; thank God. I have 2 queries please for those with experience with Sifrol: 1- Aren't 6 tablets a high dose for a PD "beginner"? (I read that Sifrol becomes in effective within 6 years). 2- Do you recommend I reduce the intake to 4 tablets a day, on experimental basis, for a couple of weeks? Many Thanks.

A query about Sifrol,
I believe that drug is labelled for Restless Leg Syndrome as well as PD. I'd suggest listening to your doctor rather than invisible Internet experts. That said, my doc started me on Sinemet but because of side effects she changed to Rytary. It has been working well for me.
Kay,
During our last visit to Vanderbilt, I asked hubby's MDS to prescribe Sinemet CR but the BRAND NAME. She did prescribe it but pharmacist told us that they do not make it any longer. Do you know if that it true? I also asked her her insight on Rytary and she told me that is the same as Sinemet. She was negative in prescribing Rytary.
It seems to work for me. I don't have much of an "off" time. Around 5 hours I get double vision. The eyes quit working together and I see two images. In the past I'd tape one eye shut. But now, when I take a second Rytary around 5 hours the double vision goes away.
No side effects? I read its side effects and was turned completely off. . . Glad you are doing well on Rytary.
HI, try halving the pill and consequently shortening the intake time by the next half. Of course the therapy becomes more laborious but that's how I solved the nausea.
