My MDS and I believe my depression, axiety and apathy are PD symptoms. My MDS believes my PD symptoms are seemingly worse because of my mood and thinks CBT with a competent therapist might be helpful for me. I hate taking more meds, but I had agreed to try antidepressants because I am at my wits end. I tried Pristiq, Vibryd, wellbutrin and lexapro, each for 6 weeks. I noticed NO change, positive or negative. My next step is to try talk therapy. and I am coming up with a lot of deadends. I am looking for:
1. a therapist taking on new patients
2. a therapist that does telehealth (I live in Eastern Long Island where the pickings are slim)
3. a therapist that has experience in treating patients with incurable, progressive disease or has Parkinson's
4. a therapist that takes Medicare.
5. a therapist that is familiar with CBT
I know this is a tall order, but does anyone have a therapist recommendation with most of the above characteristics?

There is a therapist named Kimball Magoni and he has done presentations on Parkinson's school started by Dr. Laurie Mischley. I do not know if he takes medicare but I guess you could contact him and find out. I have not personally consulted him but I thought his class on Parkinson's school was good.
Have you tried the Psychology Today search engine? Very few psychologists accept Medicare but some do. You can limit search to CBT, insurance, etc. psychologytoday.com/us/ther...
I will give you only my opinion, so take it for what it’s worth My HWP started with same attitude as yours “Don’t bother buying fresh vegetables, I’ve got an “incurable progressive disease” and I’m dying tomorrow “. Don’t do this, I’m dying You need to learn to do this, I’m dying
I only put up with so much of that before I started fighting back He started going to exercise class He takes his pills. I eventually asked his Neuro to prescribe a mild antidepressant - that I believe helped some with the actual PD depression We started planning for the future, projects, trips and accomplished them He does Mito Red Light therapy every morning He goes to exercise class three days a week He recently told his brother he feels better now than he has in a long time dx 2010 He’s 78+
You need to find the joys in life that you have, look for more Look up not down!! It’s not easy But remember we are all going to die some day- you need to decide how you will spend today and all the days you have left
thank you for responding. It is all about quality of life for me. I was a dancer and athlete and always knew how to push myself. But when I cannot physically stand for any length of time due to fatigue my quality of life is deteriorating . I am searching for a therapist who might be able to help me
