Are people with lower incomes more likely to have lifelong inadequate nutrition, less medical care, be living in an area with more pollution and/or toxic chemical exposure? It seems to me like this article has too narrow of a focus. I think it would be interesting to have a really complete history of medications the person has taken and what combinations of medications the person has taken including all over the counter medications. I have known of people who were prescribed medications by their regular doctor and by specialists who once they had a thorough review of their meds and eliminated some of them had some fairly remarkable improvements. Two things that can cause dementia like symptoms are UTIs and electrolyte imbalances particularly with sodium. A family member had problems with low sodium and when her sodium was low her thinking was very unclear. Even though her sodium was sometimes considered to be in the low normal range once she was given sodium there was a miraculous improvement in her thinking. I am sure there are probably other things that I have not even seen or heard of that could be contributing to dementia.
