Mindfulness to reduce anxiety

Hello everyone,

My own experience of meditating 30 to 45 minutes every day is that it has helped me keep anxiety under control. As we all know, reducing anxiety is critical in the management of our symptoms.

A psychologist friend of mine has just shared with me those two free websites that some of you might find of interest.

palousemindfulness.com

freemindfulness.org are great resources.

Michel,

Thank you for sharing.

Something I find incredibly helpful and helping to put anxiety into context is an audio book called the Untethered Soul.

Very good, more power to you and anybody who wants to take advantage. You're right. Meditation does work if you stick with it. Even psychologists can sometimes forget to do it, they're human just like everyone else. But it's really a good thing and important. Carry on please, as well for yourself and for an example. It's a good thing.

Thanks Michel

It is one of those things that I feel that I should do more of but often don't know where to start. I have tried "Headspace" but did not get the 'bug' to make me carry on- it seems like something that you have to stick with to get results but how long for and where best to start !!

Any suggestions ( anyone)

I tried Qi Gong too, and again would appreciate any guidance on a good one ( YouTube video) to start with

I am not familiar with Headspace but frequently use the Insight Timer meditation app which is free unless you'd like to take some courses. There are many teachers to choose from and different kinds of meditation/music/talks sessions, the variety of which in the beginning can be overwhelming but once you'll listen to a few of them you'll know which teachers you'll enjoy.

Meditation is great for the soul. However, neither I or my husband would last 30 minutes if at home. I can meditate when near a lake or other body of water. 😉

My husband has PD and I'm his Caregiver. We do Tai Chia and Qigong. Our favorite You Tube ones are with Don Fiore. He has some specifically for Seniors and people with Parkinson's Disease. Best to do everyday except someone would need to put a Post-it note on me so I remember!!!!

Thank you very much Linda. I will definitely look up Don Fiore (I do qigong Golden Ball every day).
