What would happen to a non PD person if they ate some Mucuna?

Would it be like taking a drug or would they just get a wee boost in energy. I’m interested as it is sold as a supplement so I assume lots of people take it.

For this whole bean powder the recommended daily dosage is half a teaspoon which is not likely to do anything. It took me a tablespoon or two to get what felt like the equivalent of a dose of C/L 25/100. It probably had a lot more levodopa but without the carbidopa it is less effective.

I think if a healthy person took a significant dose it would cause dyskinesia.

The reviews on Amazon seem to float between 'increased energy and improved mood' and 'did nothing, a waste of money'. No great surprise, your gut will cook off most of it.

Himalaya is a good brand. I chew 2 tablets along with 1/2 C/L, typically at night to help with sleep. If you take it without the C/L it probably won’t do much but you might notice something. I doubt a small dose like that would harm you.
