Yesterday there was a german report about "TPS

tps-neuro.com/de/ "

on the title page! I have been using this method since autumn 2021! From my point of view, it is one of the most effective measures (apart from deep brain stimulation) which can currently be used without side effects.

This is very exciting. Have you seen any benefits/slowed-stopped progression?

First evidence of long-term effects of transcranial pulse stimulation (TPS) on the human brain 2022 translational-medicine.biom...

"Background

With the high spatial resolution and the potential to reach deep brain structures, ultrasound-based brain stimulation techniques offer new opportunities to non-invasively treat neurological and psychiatric disorders. However, little is known about long-term effects of ultrasound-based brain stimulation. Applying a longitudinal design, we comprehensively investigated neuromodulation induced by ultrasound brain stimulation to provide first sham-controlled evidence of long-term effects on the human brain and behavior.

Methods

Twelve healthy participants received three sham and three verum sessions with transcranial pulse stimulation (TPS) focused on the cortical somatosensory representation of the right hand. One week before and after the sham and verum TPS applications, comprehensive structural and functional resting state MRI investigations and behavioral tests targeting tactile spatial discrimination and sensorimotor dexterity were performed.

Results

Compared to sham, global efficiency significantly increased within the cortical sensorimotor network after verum TPS, indicating an upregulation of the stimulated functional brain network. Axial diffusivity in left sensorimotor areas decreased after verum TPS, demonstrating an improved axonal status in the stimulated area.

Conclusions

TPS increased the functional and structural coupling within the stimulated left primary somatosensory cortex and adjacent sensorimotor areas up to one week after the last stimulation. These findings suggest that TPS induces neuroplastic changes that go beyond the spatial and temporal stimulation settings encouraging further clinical applications."

Are you using it for your PD?

The newspaper has not the best Reputation in the way they Report about things. Scientific results should be published elsewhere. Save your money.

Indeed, the “Bild Zeitung” is not known in Europe as the most reliable newspaper. However the TPS practitioners (southwest Germany and north of Switzerland) from Tom’s link provide some English-language scientific studies on their website. See below.

They will probably not include critical reports due to no doubt commercial interests. But I expect from HU readers a more complete picture with possible different opinions.....

This research shows a favourable result, but with the best will in the world cannot be called representative by a n=1 for PD.

Rather, I’m looking forward to an update to your own personal experience after almost over a year!

Transcranial Pulse Stimulation - USA!

Transcranial Pulse Stimulation (TPS) is a therapy option based on ultrasound, which has been developed at the Neurology Department of the Medical University of Vienna since about 2010. The Vienna TPS concept is a new rehabilitation therapy for various brain diseases, based on neuroplastic reorganization. For the technical implementation, Med. Univ. Vienna initiated a cooperation with Storz Medical AG. The correct application of the therapy is highly complex and requires many years of neuroscientific and neurological experience in order to identify the correct brain areas individually. For safety reasons, TPS should only be applied by brain experts (clinical neuroscientists/neurologists). The goal of treatment is to regenerate the patient's cognitive/motor abilities and maintain them for as long as possible. Clinical studies show that TPS is effective and painless.

On December 6, 2022, TPS was also approved for studies in the U.S. by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with the cooperation of Prof. Beisteiner (Investigational Device Exemption).

Innovative therapy

The new technique uses ultrasound pulses to activate key brain regions with high precision. This helps restore lost abilities. The pulses are delivered non-invasively via a head-mounted transmitter and ultrasound gel. The new therapy is excellently tolerated, painless and requires no medication. It offers an additional therapeutic opportunity, as all established therapies can be continued unchanged.

In the internationally acclaimed first description by Prof. Beisteiner, memory disorders in dementia could be improved over 3 months. A clinical approval (CE certification) also already exists for Alzheimer's dementia. As a clinical-scientific TPS developer, Prof. Beisteiner also fulfills the medical and legal requirements for therapy trials in other brain diseases. However, a therapy trial can only take place after a precise case-by-case assessment by the team of experts at the Vienna TPS Development Center. Therapeutic opportunities outside the scope of approval exist for all brain diseases that respond to brain activation, such as Parkinson's disease, neurodegeneration, stroke, and depression. Improvements in cognition, motor function, mood, attention and activity levels have been documented in Vienna.

Safe application of the complex therapy requires specialized knowledge and proven scientific expertise in brain function diagnostics and network analysis. However, when applied correctly, it is completely stress-free for the patient. Prof. Beisteiner creates an individual neuroscientific therapy concept for each patient according to the latest results of his research group.
