In college microbiology class I did a project, extracting LPS--lipopolysaccaride--from E. coli. The LPS was thought to be toxic. But extracting LPS and injecting it into mice did not kill the mice. Turns out polysaccaride is not poisonous. lipid is, and the extraction process used alcohol which dissolved lipid leaving only polysaccaride.
Not me , dude. The instructor assigned me to recreate the process from a master's degree thesis. I kept his hard-bound thesis with me as I copied and recreated his work. One night I needed to work in the library. I didn't know it but the master's thesis had been magnetized. AS I was leaving the library, bells and sirens started going off. The instructor was in the library at the same time. When the sirens were wailing he started hopping up and down pointing his finger at me screaming, "Thief! Thief! Don't let him get away! Thief! Thief!!!
That's kinda how it went at the library. Nobody grabbed my coat but they made me empty my backpack onto the counter as the instructor was yelling, "Police!! Police!!" and 30 patrons stopped to watch me being castigated.
