Can we take advantage of placebo effect for treatment of Parkinson's
Yes. A therapy's efficacy comes not just from the the therapy directly, not just from the chemicals in a drug. It includes a drug's packaging, your confidence in your doctor who prescribes the therapy, advertising, high price . In short, everything that increases your expectation of the success of a therapy affects the size of the placebo effect. You can improve the efficacy of a therapy by engineering the placebo. You may wish to consider this post as a placebo.
I like this quote from the article:
"I love it when people say it's all in your head, because your brain is in your head," he says. "There are real biological underpinnings for these kinds of things."
The Mind-Body Connection
It is broadly recognized that stress is adverse to health. Stress arises from the mind perceiving some danger lurking in the environment. This tends to put the body and fight or flight mode – a mind-body connection. The opposite of stress is relaxation and optimism. The belief that everything is on the right track. This tends to put the body in rest and repair mode. The placebo effect is a means of reducing stressful fear of illness and replacing it with optimism. One can do that without taking a pill. Qigong does it for me, personally, but there are many ways to get there.
