I saw this video: Can Eating A Lemon Per Day Sky Rocket My Energy? youtu.be/u6iD6lD63aQ
The video shows how you can blend whole lemons and have a tablespoon of lemon sludge in the morning and it lowers your PH and gives you energy and a bunch of good stuff, but it did not mention PD. So I went searching for evidence it might be good for PD too:
Potential Benefits of Nobiletin, A Citrus Flavonoid, against Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s Disease 2019 ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/labs/pmc/a... "Nobiletin, 3′,4′,5,6,7,8-hexamethoxyflavone, is a major component of polymethoxylated flavones in the peels of citrus fruits such as Citrus depressa, Citrus reticulata, Citrus sinensis, and Citrus limon":
Citrus depressa = sometimes called shiikuwasha, shequasar, Taiwan tangerine, Okinawa lime,[1] flat lemon, hirami lemon, or thin-skinned flat lemon, is a small, green citrus fruit rich in flavonoids and native to East Asia.
Citrus reticulata = Mandarin orange.
Citrus sinensis = includes the commonly cultivated sweet oranges, including blood oranges and navel oranges.
Citrus limon = Lemon!
"In this review, we summarized the beneficial effects of nobiletin against neurodegenerative diseases, such as AD and PD, in both animal models and cell culture systems. Nobiletin displays a wide range of beneficial effects against the features of AD and PD. However, further studies are needed to determine its primary molecular targets using proteomic-based approaches.
Regarding clinical application, a pilot clinical study was conducted to investigate the feasibility and safety of cotreatment with nobiletin-rich Citrus reticulata peel extract and donepezil in donepezil-preadministered AD patients [99]. In this study, six patients with mild-to-moderate AD were enrolled for treatment with nobiletin-rich Citrus reticulata peel extract. Five mild-to-moderate AD patients who were preadministered donepezil were enrolled for donepezil treatment alone as the control during the same period. Cognitive function was assessed with the mini-mental state examination (MMSE) and the Japanese version of the Alzheimer’s Disease Assessment Scale-Cognitive Subscale (ADAS-J cog). One-year intervention with nobiletin-rich Citrus reticulata peel extract was suggested to prevent the progression of cognitive impairments in the patients, with no adverse events [99]. Further evidence from clinical trials is needed to establish the efficacy and safety of nobiletin as a useful strategy for the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as AD and PD."
I don't think I will get anywhere close to clinical doses of nobiletin from a tablespoon of lemon sludge every day, but I will get a bunch of antioxidants and flavanoids: Flavonoid Composition of Citrus Juices ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/labs/pmc/a...
You can also purchase nobiletin nootropicsdepot.com/nobilet... but for now I will stick with lemons.
Well look at this NMDA mention SilentEchoes Hidden onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi... “Chinpi” in kampo medicine. The nobiletinrich C. reticulata peel extract (NChinpi) expectedly reversed N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist-induced dementia in mice, like nobiletin (in submission). Thus, in the present pilot clinical study, we tried to examine the
feasibility and safety of cotreatment with NChinpi and donepezil in donepezil-
preadministered AD patients, and tested the possibility that this Chinpi might be of benefit to …" I can't get past the paywall to read more.
