Alot of us folks that have pd grind our teeth especially at night, often without realizing it. You might wake up with an unusually sore jaw etc. What i do is buy an otc mouth gaurd found in grocery stores otc med sections. They are 10$ and you can mold it to your mouth. These are, imo, a much better option than the ones the dentist fits to you which often can cost 100$. Hang tough. Cheers.

Practical Advice for PWP. Teeth Grinding
Hi Beehive, You are on a roll! Thanks for your suggestions.
you betcha! 20 yrs of pd ought not be wasted. hang tough! cheers!
I grind my teeth (have been doing it forever), and I have a mouth guard which my dentist gave to me at $0! The mouth guard I have is very old, but nothing wrong with it. However, I decided to ask my current dentist for a new one. He quoted it at $850.00!!! I thanked him and left his office.
I know there are a lot of options out there for a good mouth guard.
My dentist made a mouth guard that I think he called a Bruxguard for me and he made the lower part so that it applied pressure to a lower tooth that was a little twisted, to try and straighten that tooth. It worked for the teeth grinding but the straightener part kept giving me a headache so I stopped using it.
It all worked out well though because I found out, by accident, why I was grinding my teeth and was able to resolve the problem. It turned out that whenever I had a late evening snack, I would grind my teeth. The grinding was so bad, it would wake me up. Every time I would wake up, I was dreaming that I was eating. After awhile I realized that I would dream of eating whenever I would have a snack later in the evening. I stopped the snacks and the eating dreams stopped and so did the teeth grinding. I guess sometimes you just get lucky!
